I reckon this confirms Schroder and THJ coming back on the cheap.

Shröder please. Give him the full MLE

Not sure how cheap they will be but keeping Dennis/Tim l seems a much stronger possibility now.
Operate as a capped team, keep the other 2 vets and use the full non taxpayer MLE to replace Beasley (NAW?).
Do I love it? Not really. But make lemonade from lemons.
It’s either that or generate more cap space and go after a more significant player.

Damn Beasley! How, why?!?!?!?!?!? You make enough money in the league to do this!
Might as well give that money to NAW and move to a more defensive mindset.

If that the case, just about every team in the league will offer that. He can just pick and choose where he wants to go like LA.

We would need to renounce THJ/Schroder to make a credible run at Aldama.
We’d lose our rights to go over cap to keep Scroder/THJ but they’re also more realistic to keep with the room MLE than Malik would have been. One or the other- likely not both.

I actually think resigning Schroeder is more important than Beasly. I say get him resigned go after Almada I guess full force see what THJ, Waters, and Sasser can do. I’d be happy to see Sasser get a shot at these minutes.

Yikes. I’ll never understand this if it’s true. You are a millionaire. Do not throw it away for more. Hoping it’s not true and if it is, it’s one of those edge cases like Jameson

Moronic by Beasley to put himself in this situation but good timing for this to happen before free agency so the Pistons can move forward. If this happened a week or two from now the Pistons would have been in a bind.
Oh well, thanks for the one glorious season Beas but now we move on.

Only about half the teams in the league will have the full MLE to offer anyone. Several have the smaller tax payers MLE and a few don’t have MLE at all from being an apron team.
Out of those half that have full MLE, probably only half are willing to spend full MLE because their owners don’t want to go into the luxury tax. So you really end up with about 8 teams willing to spend full MLE this summer.

My prediction is that we won’t bring back Beasley or Schroder. It seems likely the Pistons have known about this for awhile - and Schroder made that video of himself only recently.

Sign him to a one year deal with a team option for second year to see how it plays out. Innocent until proven guilty.

I don’t think signing him is a tenable option while he could be facing a ban. And that’s my completely pragmatic amoral thought on that.

It was debated amongst fans whether or not giving Beasley a large contract was the right strategy or not.
This isn’t how one would like it to happen but pragmatically that choice has now been made for us.

Signing him on a 1 year deal for between $3 million and $7.2 million seems ok to me if Beasley is claiming to be innocent to everyone. He hasn’t been charged with anything and is only being investigated. You can’t really rely on him for anything though or plan on him being there…. And I would only make that move to sign him a few months from now in late September if nothing has come out from the investigation still at that point.
That said I understand the alternative thinking as well not wanting him to be associated with the team in any capacity if/when he gets banned.

I mean, maybe you do something like that AFTER free agency. Maybe.
But yeah, I think that last bit is a key component. He can think about a contract somewhere if/when he’s cleared. That’s likely the reality of the situation.

Re: Malik Beasley Allegations of Gambling
He had a great regular season for us but honestly after the series against the knicks I was OK with not bringing him back. I think his shooting percentages on the volume from last year were an outlier and he doesn't contribute in any way if he's not hitting threes.

It’s hard to know whether resigning him would have been the right move or not at this point since we as fans don’t have a full picture of what the alternates are.
It doesn’t matter now though.
We might know a lot more tomorrow evening.

This. His regression which should realistically be expected would make NAW a better option at that point. In my opinion of course.
