This is clearly a Tracy McGrady type situation. He wants to go somewhere that he can thrive and turn into the star he believes himself to be. GS is not going to give him the consistent starting role he wants nor the salary.

I don't see the Bulls being interesting in Kuminga anymore. Not after drafting Noa and trading for Okoro.

I don’t see us doing that. Coby is better than Kuminga. Downgrade imo.

The problem with that for the Warriors is taking back a S&T player hard caps them at the 1st apron, and given the salaries of Curry, Butler, and Green, I don't see them taking on Robinson and staying below the 1st apron.

Please nooooo he's another Lavine waiting to happen. He'll put up numbers and the team will collect Ls. He's a horrible team player.

If he's been looking off the indisputable GOAT shooter and doing his own thing what do you guys think he'll do on this team?!?!?

McGrady was actually good in Toronto. Kuminga is a delusion. He is a chucker in waiting.

I agree. If Noa and Matas are our two forwards, there's no need for Kuminga. As they are now, can't play Noa, Matas, Kuminga together, not enough shooting. Can't see AK trading Coby to get Kuminga in the first place. By all accounts he thinks very highly of Coby and we know he will over value his players. After drafting Noa and adding Okoro while we still have Williams, there's like no chance he trades Coby for a PF, imo.

I mean I half-get it because Kuminga is better than Okoro, Terry, Phillips, etc and can play right away but agree with you that adding Essengue and Okoro, we're kinda heavily stocked (all not great) but stocked with long lengthy wing/forward combos, adding Kuminga just doesn't really make sense unless someone like P-Will is on the way out or your trying to contend with depth.

The Bulls wouldn't be wrong seeing how Kuminga, Matas, Noa, Patrick, , Okoro, Philips could work out. But it makes no sense for them to bet so much time and money on Kuminga when they have 3 guys under control for 3+ years and Okoro and Phillips. Kuminga is far from a sure thing just go with what you've got, your 2026 slogan isn't Ring or Bust

IIRC, the term is "Sunk Cost Fallacy". Barring major holes in the roster elsewhere, we shouldn't make the decision about Kuminga factoring in the guys who I'll just call the mistakes of the past. If we can get a guy who is good enough to move a lesser player out of the rotation, we should absolutely do it. Is Kuminga that guy? That is a tougher question, because he hasn't played the role of lead scorer before...I have always been a fan of going after the guys who have played behind stars and have shown flashes because they could be both gettable and step up. Certainly has risks, but so do most moves.

I don’t see AK adding Kuminga without dumping Pat, but I could see him justifying an asset dump to shed Pat and come out with Kuminga.

So yeah, lightly protected 2027 FRP, Coby, Ayo, etc. The justification in his brain will be “future cap space saved.”

I agree with you to an extent but at the same time, if we add Kuminga without being able to move on from lessor players what does that do for the team? Lets say the rumor is true of Coby for Kuminga. We then sit with few guards and tons of wing/forwards many of which look to be unmovable until their contract is done (Okoro, P-Will, Phillips, Terry, Carter) meaning that is 5 wasted roster spots just so that we can add Kuminga. While he may flourish it doesn't necessarily mean the team is better because we'd then have little to no good guard play and no chance to upgrade it until we can move those "crap" players.

In other words we can keep Coby, a scoring guard in a spot where we dont have a scoring guard. Or we can move Coby for Kuminga, a combo wing/forward in a spot where we are currently trying to develop 2-3 of those (WIlliams, Matas, Essengue) while also limiting our "scoring guard" options to Huerter, Ayo and Terry.

This roster looking at it right now:
1 Crappy PG - Carter
5 Combo G's - Giddey, Coby, Ayo, Huerter, Terry
5 Combo W/F's - Matas, Williams, Okoro, Essengue, Phillips
3 Cobo 4/5's - Vuc, Smith, Collins

I just personally do not understand any move that is not looking to upgrade PG or C at this point.

Yeah, I don't love the idea of Coby for Kuminga, mainly because I thought that Coby was worth more. I don't want to strongly defend Kuminga because his skillset appears limited in the 3 & D areas (where at least Coby has 3's).

I could not understand any Kuminga addition at this point, much less a Coby trade for him. Are the Bulls really going to try Masai’s failed “vision 6’9” plan in Chicago, and hope for better results this time? Ball handling and ability to use dribble to get to desired spots on the court when being tightly guarded doesn’t matter anymore?

Agreed, its highly unlikely they have any interest in adding Kuminga with these draft day additions and the trade for Okoro from the Cavs. I know the trade market is scarce for Pat and who besides the Warriors, Suns and maybe the T-Wolves have interest in Vuc at this point?

In my opinion the Bulls need to bring in as much talent and guys with huge upside. No one on this team has proven anything so I wouldn’t rule out Kuminga because they have Okoro and Noa. Kuminga is a wild card and a big unknown. We really don’t know what he will be because he hasn’t really gotten a chance. There is also a risk that Coby White may leave next year for nothing. I don’t have a problem trying to build around Giddey, Matas, and Kuminga with a chance at a top 5 pick in next year’s draft.

Is there really enough room for Matas, Essengua, AND Kuminga? Three forwards that need to develop at the same time?
