The Magic are officially under the luxury tax and now have access to the full $14.1M midlevel.

Do we have our MLE now? Because we didn't do a long term deal with Mo like others are doing.

Incoming Duncan Robinson. I don't think he's the right player, but it could happen.

Correct. The Magic have the full non-taxpayer MLE which is $14.1M.

It can be used on one player, multiple players, or as a TPE for a player currently under contract who makes $14.1M or less.

Give Naw $14.1m, give Moe $5.5m, and give Caleb the boot.

Just re-sign Moritz man, nobody out there as a free agent will be more impactful than him.

So by this move, we not have the full mid level exception right? If that's the case then there has to be a target that Weltman is after for tomorrow. Sucks bc Mo is integral to this team. I hope they communicated with his agent that they fully intend to bring him back. Lets see if we get the family discount.

Declining both options maximizes flexibility. For the second straight offseason, Weltman opts for the most aggressive approach available.

Moe has probably known for over a month.

Declined Moe and Caleb. They now have the full $14.1m MLE and retain Caleb and Moe's bird rights

Thanks for the info Rob. Hopefully they resign Mo on a team friendly deal that’s more long term for him.

Aren't we hard capped at the first apron now? Can we use MLE and then resign them or is that impossible?

We can use that money to sign 3 players?

Good move by Magic. Gives them options to explore and offer multiple player upgrades, example G. Trent, Jr. and Brook Lopez. If they can't, can resign Mo and Caleb. Of course, they could also find deals elsewhere, but you gotta take chances to upgrade team. 4 year window starts next season.

If the Magic do have a free agent target lined up, it is going to be difficult to retain Moe unless he’s willing to take a significant haircut financially.

If they don’t have anyone lined up and are just going to make their pitch to several guys, Moe could easily return as they retain his bird rights until they actually make a signing with the MLE.

They can split up the MLE or use the whole thing on one player. We can still sign Caleb and Moe after since we weren't over the first apron this past season
