Predict Center Move - Charlotte Hornets
Who is the C1 target? Looks like CLT needs a rim protector.
LaMelo Ball
Colin Sexton
Brandon Miller
Miles Bridges
???
What is the trade you predict?
Hornets own 4 outside 1st round picks
2026 1st (lesser of Magic/Grizzlies)
2027 Mavs 1st top-2 protected
2027/28 Heat 1st (lotto/unprotected)
2029 (worst of Cavs/Wolves/Jazz)
Charlotte has now traded since the deadline
Nick Richards
Mark Williams
Jusuf Nurkic
LaMelo Ball
Colin Sexton
Brandon Miller
Miles Bridges

If Dallas can get their 2027 pick back and maybe rights to Liam, Gafford can be yours. Not surevwhat the salary filler Cha would want to include would be.

I figure full MLE for favorite FA option. Pretty simple.

Re: Predict Center Move - Charlotte Hornets
Myles Turner is a dark horse if they wish to commit to that position with serious endeavors.
I wonder if Rudy Gobert could make sense, though the complications there would require the Timberwolves acquiring a Center back.
Clint Capella somewhere between tMLE and ntMLE.
I don't mind them just eating Goga Bitadze for free.

Re: Predict Center Move - Charlotte Hornets
Think paying the late 2026 first for Claxton is a good idea.
I’d probably offer two of Liam, 2026 worst of, 2029 worst of firsts.. But think it only costs one of the firsts?
Lot of ways to make the salary matching.

No thank you. Would rather sign Brook Lopez, keep the Mavs 1st, and keep Liam McNeeley.

Kornet for something above TPMLE up to full. That's reportedly his market based on reports I've seen from BOS. Great locker room guy, was tremendous on the P&R with Tatum last year so assume he'd be good with Ball in that role as well.

I'm in agreement here. Claxton seems to check all the boxes and the Nets seem on the same page as Jazz. They want to extend their tanks.
Peterson was part of the group that drafted Day'Ron Sharpe as well.

Doesn't have to be either-or.

Right.
But the post displays a plate of 4 outside 1st round picks.
Jumping straight to MLE seems to defeat the purpose of the thread.
MLE is a fallback to a trade.
But of course the price needs to be right.

Claxton would definitely be a good fit, and he's a local kid for the Hornets growing up in nearby Greenville, SC. The mention of Gobert above is also interesting. I could see Minnesota trying to save money by downgrading from Gobert to Claxton, and if Charlotte has interest in Gobert, it could be a good 3 team fit.

Gobert is interesting but doesn't really fit our time line.TheNetsFan wrote:MasterIchiro wrote:jayjaysee wrote:Think paying the late 2026 first for Claxton is a good idea.

I wouldn't hate it we need his defense. But I would prefer a younger option.

I would really hate Minn going that route (paying Randle/Naz and then downgrading Rudy)
But I would like it for CLT. Rudy isn’t a long term answer like Claxton would be, but he’s one of the best floor raisers in the league. And maybe that helps see what Ball/Miller have..

I honestly thought this reply was a joke at first. The Hornets aren’t in a position to compete and need to keep stacking draft picks to either be ready for a star trade when available, or more likely to just keep taking shots through the draft to find a guy who can help turn the franchise around.
You guys already had a higher upside C on the team in Mark and chose picks instead. A stop gap C like Capela, Wagner, Kornet, Lopez for (asset) free is going to be the best value

Re: Predict Center Move - Charlotte Hornets
If Charlotte offered the salary to match Embiid how many first rounders would we need to send?
Grant Williams, Miles Bridges, Josh Green for Embiid. I don't think that either team would have interest but at least worth thinking about I suppose.

Yeah maybe not, but we also have 8 first round picks over the next 4 drafts. If we wanted to pivot to trying to win now it wouldn't be that hard to do.
