He’s shorter but weighs more and is likely equally if not more physical. The big difference in playability is shooting and fouling.

DFS shoots almost double the 3PT volume on a higher % (DFS 2.0 3PM 36% vs Tate 1.1 3PM 31% - career/per 36)

and fouls significantly less (DFS 2.8 fouls vs Tate 4.7 - career/per 36)

Tate otherwise is a significantly more skilled ball handler and can create and score much more efficiently in the paint, but this skills don’t offset his weaknesses. He’s still a winning player who positively effects the game most nights though, just a rough player mold for the modern NBA

Too many minutes for Reed, they'll try and keep KD lower, DFS a touch lower, if Reed is good enough Freds lower and give those minutes to guards.

Putting them like that makes it too simplistic, guys will slide up and down positions throughout a game. Amen can play 1-4, Tari, DFS and KD can be at either wing spot, they'll play some double big with Sengun and Adams again, Jabari can play center

The idea for Reed is to eventually replace Fred, who only signed a 1 + 1 extension. Last year Reeds level of play wasn’t rotation worthy, if he can keep 16-18 minutes off the bench that’s a big improvement. There’s a chance Holiday takes his spot again. But still Not a trade piece yet, we have time.

If the lack of offensive creation is a problem Houston really shouldn’t sign DFS. The FO and coaching staff has to make a decision on that in FA. You have a guy like DFS, a guy like Trent, and a guy like Jerome. Different strengths and weaknesses.

If 34 minutes is the lowest we can play a 37 year old with an injury history in the regular season - on a deep team that’s arguably capable of obtaining home court without him, then I sincerely hope we don’t sign him to any extension.
