Charlotte trades away all of their Cs and adds a very questionable fit. Utah now has a bit of a glut at C. This has to be the first domino in a series of moves for both teams.

I think this strongly favors Charlotte.

Sexton's too weak on defense to be starter quality but he's a good option as a 3rd guard bench gunner. I'm not sure I trust Nurk as even a backup at this point.

The fit's very good for Charlotte as well. They needed a good point/combo guard (possibly starter but more top bench guy as soon as their lotto pick starts) and a starting center and only had MLE money - not really enough to fill both holes well. Now they can offer full MLE money to their favorite starting center FA to round out their rotation (they've got at least one high 2nd who's old enough to step into an immediate backup C role).

I'm guessing Jazz not yet done making trades, Kessler/Lauri next?

I should be accepting I was wrong on Sexton’s value but…

Gafford and Hardy is still offered? Maybe Dallas is owed seconds..

No thank you.

Best of Jazz/Clippers could easily be a 31-35 pick. Totally unnecessary, otoh I guess the Hornets didn't have a reason otherwise to give up another center.

I agree with Andy Bailey basically none of the time, but we're on the same page here. Just an odd move.

The only thing that makes sense is if we are trading Kessler. Other than that….no idea what this trade was for.

The only way we should have traded Sexton and Collins was packaging them together and take bad back bad salary for FRP’s. If it’s not that you sure as hell get a 2nd if you send these guys out individually. To get a player we don’t need and send a 2nd is bananas.

Hopefully this is a step that has 1-3 steps after it planned and it makes sense here shortly. Otherwise…what in the hell.

Really bad trade for the Jazz. Attaching any assets to get off of Colin Sexton just to get a washed up Center? This makes no sense whatsoever. Austin Ainge already off to a bad start.

Maybe they could pump and dump Nurkic to a team that needs a C at the deadline.

In all honesty, Nurkic isn't terrible. He is just massively overpaid and not a starter. If a team like Utah has the cap space to play him as a backup Center without it being a stress then he should be fine there.

The issue in Phoenix is that they were bad, had no depth so paying a backup center 20 million felt like the 2nd worst thing ever. Behind paying Beal as a franchise player.

Not sure why people think Sexton is better.
Any respectable impact metrics points strongly to Nurkic.
A difference of a second seems reasonable.

Not sure what you think is a respectable impact metric, but Sexton is ranked 163rd in EPM, Nurkic is 259th. Better VORP & BPM as well.

LEBRON, DARKO, VPM, RAPM.
VORP and BPM aren’t really impact metrics as they are not adjusted.
Point is there isn’t much evidence to say the value is off in this trade.

defensively sure. but we do need shot creators in a BIG way around here, so we'll take it.

Sexton was definitely better than any player I could've imagined we'd get with Nurkic, who is pretty much cooked.

This is Ainge trying to tank as much as humanly possible imo

You guys did very very well getting that second.
I would have thought you guys were going to be paying the second instead.

Would need to find a vet big to sit on the bench now though.

I assumed we would've had to pay one of the late 1sts Phoenix has given us in our deals

We really need a starting center, Moussa is not a starter
