Re: PF targets
I've like Santi Aldama ever since he was in college, and I liked Laravia for the past 2 years.
Laravia fits but he's only 6'7 with a wing build, i think Pistons are set on wings.
Santi is a perfect fit and he's the right height for a PF.
But if Santi doesn't work out, don't sleep on Dawson Garcia the Undrafted FA they just signed. 6'11 shooter, hits game winners, leading scorer, 5 year senior, McDonalds All American, great footwork, tough minded competitor. Look him up, he's a great fit

You need 2-way wings, 2-way shooting bigs, and you can't allow low iq players on the court. Assist/turnover ratio is crucial. Shooting point guards are icing on the cake IF they are plus defenders.

Re: PF targets
I’m cool with just keeping Harris as the starting 4 next year. If we can’t get someone better, I’d prefer they just load up on backups. Sign a vet like Larry Nance Jr or something, we have Klitman, we have Garcia, let them push each other to a higher level, we used Ausar as the primary backup in playoffs anyways I doubt that changes, that’s why I think we just need a couple bigger bodies that can defend the bigger 4s, when Harris and Ausar/Holland cannot. But I think I’d rather figure it out that way for another year than overpay someone that’s not going to take us much farther than we can already get.

Detroit can offer more than the full mle right, so only Memphis could outbid them money wise?

The Pistons can offer more than the full MLE only if they dump Beasley or if he's willing to accept the Room MLE ($8.5m).
Unlikely.

I’ll confess it is annoying to be one of 2 teams with notable cap space and still have such little flexibility to improve our team by signing guys.
The irony is a team over the cap but under the LT can actually offer an MLE around 12 million. But if we spend cap space up to the cap we only get to spend 8.5 million.
The real rub here is that we don’t have any kind of Bird rights on Beasley due to the one year deal. If we did we could resign him after using up our cap space and we’d be in a position where we could go over what any team who doesn’t have large amounts of cap could pay him. Instead we’re forced to use exceptions or cap space to retain him.
Unless I’m misunderstanding, signing any significant free agent probably means goodbye to Beasley.

Bobby for 3 to 4 years at full MLE would have been a solid get for us. Shooting and defense and very much a Pistons DNA type player.

Re: PF targets
So Aldama or Laravia. Possibly trade for John Collins.

I actually think NAW is the strongest possibility.
He’ll likely have multiple full MLEs to choose from, but we could outbid.
It appears the Wolves chose Reid and Randle over him.

Yeah for sure. I was just listing if it's a PF we choose to spend on.
Also what about Tre Mann? He's interesting

Yeah.
I think the most likely candidate for starting power forward for this team next year is actually Tobias Harris.
Aldama is restricted so likely costs cap space and assets.

Again I agree. Next notification we get Aldama extends with Memphis. This free agency was already awful and it's just dried up even more.
I obviously like NAW but when he's now the most realistic FA to change teams that's really really bad.

He’s nothing special but he fits. Can hit threes and is a good defender. He’s the type of player all good teams have.

Good chance Aldama will go for more than the MLE. Don't hang your hopes out on that one.

Gotta love all y'all getting depressed over guys re-signing with their teams when "we should just stay the course and improve around the margins" dominated the preferred off-season strategy for most of y'all. Don't worry, the mid guys and Johnny try-hards will still be around this time tomorrow.

Jerami Grant is a scoring-first PF who is on the trade market. We sure could use some scoring.

Exactly, being all patient is probably gonna drop us down to the 7th or 8th seed.

Re: PF targets
With Portis and DFS apparently spoken for, and Aldama an RFA who we might have to overpay to come here . . . maybe Yabusele?
