PP/White/Hauser/Brown/Queta

Davison/Scheierman/Hugo/Walsh/Tillman

Shulga/Peterson/Norris/A. Williams (2-way mix guys)

So that’s what they have not counting the new trade guys who might not even stay. That’s how I look at it.

If you look at that group and say they’ve got $20M to spend it’s a pretty tight budget.

I wonder if DET wants Niang or Hauser more with the Beasley news. They still have a TPE, get a 2nd for Georges or a couple for Hauser?

Idk but I think the bolded in your first post is a very good summation of the situation.

And in those four undetermined players they really need 2-3 front court guys so that is another knock on Simons’ longevity here.

I’m fine if he stays for the season but laying that out does make it seem less likely he’s just still too pricey a neighborhood for the circumstances and who he is.

Yeah, that's what kinda made it click for me. I'd also like to see Scheiermann more, tbh.

There's still a universe where Simons makes sense. He learns to play D now that he's in BOS and he has the right guys/env around him. His next contract will be cheaper. I can't imagine it's $20M/year even. I'd think somewhere around MLE range, tbh, and even that might be high. So, there is some chance that seeing what you have in him and resign him cheap and he develops into at least a league average guy on D and probably becomes more efficient offensively on the Cs and now you have a bargain. I just don't know how much I believe in that universe.

Agreed and it assumes they are comfortable staying in the tax. Which at this point is unknown.

I do think he could have a relatively strong season and could at minimum up his value for the deadline and return something cheaper and valuable and that’s a good option also.

But if they are getting under the tax they are back to moving a big salary for almost nothing financially in return while shopping in the Jake Laravia/Dario Saric aisle of the grocery store for replacements.

Scheierman has a nasty edge to him. Really want to see if he can be a top-8 rotation guy. I'd force feed him minutes all year.

IMHO Simons is headed to the Pelicans for either Olynyk or Herb Jones.

Probably not Kelly since he’s on the Wiz now. Poole and Simons would be a choice…. But it is Dumars.

Well then to the Wiz for Olynyk.

Actually there are a ton of free agent bigs floating around, including Horford and Kornet. For starters, the Wolves just declined their option on Garza.

That's like a Pelican fan saying Olynyk is headed to the Celtics for either Simons or White.

Feels like Charlotte was the team but that ship has sailed. Doesn’t bode that well actually lol

Jabari Smith's deal is probably a good analog for what Simons will get next summer. 5/$125M.

Probably looking at something like Simons to Utah, with Boston taking KJ Martin and Clarkson sent to Milwaukee who then dumps Connaughton somewhere for something even worse that gets paid to be dumped somewhere.

We basically never make trades that get reported on besides KP/Jrue but those were extremely obvious.

Just don't see the point of dumping an elite, young scorer.

He can't guard anybody. They don't want to pay his next contract. We need to use the salary room for bigs.

That is your speculation.....I think he has a good chance of sticking around for the coming years. He fits our offense perfectly. I could care less about his defense. He has the tools to be at least as good as a Hauser type defender.

Actually, the people trying to dump Simons DO run the team.

I would 100% rather keep Simons and Hauser. Hauser’s deal is only going to look better by the year. Hell, Sam Merrill just got 4 yrs/40 from CLE and Hauser is FAR better.

Kornet is solid no doubt but he’s a backup big on a title team. I don’t think the drop off from Kornet to a vet min is as big as Hauser or Simons to a vet min wing/guard…
