I guess I missed seeing that the Pacers offered Myles 3 years $75 mil ? No wonder a deal hasn’t happened yet. I imagine Myles wants closer to $28 mil as a minimum.

Eh, that's only been posted from an account that has been proven to have made things up out of nowhere in the past?

A lot of deals already announced are guys that can legally extend their contract, while Myles's deal cannot be legally extended. Or they're guys that are declining a player option to agree to a new deal immediately (and still, technically an extension, rather than a new deal completely).

IJax getting the QO at $6m is significant for a team riding a fine line with the luxury tax.

You'll probably hear about it, but apparently, a couple teams were sniffing around and hoping that the Pacers wouldn't extend the QO and they could snag Jackson for cheap on a "rehab" type deal.

I wonder if someone is offering $30-$35m in a S&T scenario?

Wouldn't terribly matter? Indy would have to agree to whatever salary those teams would be offering in exchange, as only Brooklyn could straight up offer that salary right now, and they wouldn't need a sign and trade? No one else in the league is close to $30-35m and would have to dump a TON of salary to get there, and would basically need a sign and trade no matter what?

the non-taxpayer MLE is at $14,104,000. Toppin makes $14 million even.

What does a Toppin to Portland trade look like? The Blazers are going to be something like $25 million under the tax.

No idea. If Indy is dead set on getting under the tax, Obi into an MLE is certainly the simplest and most straightforward means of so doing.

Realistically, if Indy is looking to clear the salary, I can’t imagine they’d get much, if any value back? And I don’t know if Indy would get value or have to pay value, etc.

For Indy, it’s a tough concept. He’s just a perfect fit with Indy (really, with Haliburton). He’s a hard worker. He’s well loved in the locker room and seems to be a great vibes guy there. But, he’s also the perfect salary to clear, and we have Siakam and Walker there, too.

So, ultimately, I don’t know!:

I think things have gotten even a bit more complicated now? Apparently the League has released their projections for 26-27 to all teams (in the last week),... and they are forecasting a 7% rise instead of the previously projected 10% rise. (projections in Spotrac are now based on 7%). This creates a 2nd 'pinch point' in the cap sheet,... we are currently forecasted to be over the cap (practical cap space - by just under 100K) without an extension for Benn and only 9 players under contract.

If we had gone further into the tax to sign Myles,... and included 8% raises,... we would have increased our tax liability (likely into the more restrictive tiers), with a repeater penalty in 26-27?.... Not saying that we did the right thing,.. but I am saying that there were further consequences than I had imagined?....
