Athletically he should be able to attack and get to the rim but of note is his FTr.

His career FTr is .173 and he posted .174 last season.

Holiday posted a FTr of .143 last season. Simons of players that posted over 800 minutes on BOS last season would rank below Zinger, Kornet, Queta, Tatum, Brown and White in FTr.

Simons is a shooter. I think playing off ball and getting more open 3's should improve his 3PT% and his release is lightning quick.

But Simons just isnt good at attacking. He is pushed around easily and just isnt a natural downhill player.

That's fine Boston relies on Brown (and Tatum) to be their downhill players.

More interesting medium-term is that Brown and Tatum both draw fouls less than most "superstar" players. Neither one has figured out how to add that to their game.

I like that there is still upside here with this kid. Smooth operator with explosive movement.

Drives per game last year
Jaylen - 12.7
Tatum - 10.3
Simons - 9.3
Pritchard - 5.4
White - 4.8
Holiday - 4.8

Simons drives almost twice as much as Holiday and would be third on the team by a healthy margin.

Hugo Gonzalez might be some competition on drives. He is to me slightly reminiscent of both Brown and White (so maybe Beige?), but taller and longer than either of them.

I'm good with Niang staying. They need not only a replacement for Hauser if he has to go, but also a bit of a fighting dog like that.

I can't see Simons staying. He's kind of an un-Celtic when they've got to be conscious of retaining the culture that Jrue had so well stamped. If they play him over the young guys, what does that say to the young guys about the importance of D to get on the floor? And how does their D not take a step back?

I give him to August, tops, before he's moved.

So it is sounding like the Cs are shopping him. I’ll try not to get attached.

.
Simons is 76-for-80 (95.0%) on clutch free throws in his career. That’s the best mark among the 608 players with at least 50 clutch free throw attempts (regular season and playoffs combined) over the 29 years for which we have clutch data.

Clutch = Attempt with the score within five points in the last five minutes of the fourth quarter or overtime.

That includes a 23-for-23 mark this past season, when Simons also had six field goals (on 11 attempts) to tie or take the lead in the final minute of the fourth quarter or overtime. That was tied for fourth most.

In various threads, some have suggested that Sexton would be an upgrade to Simons. He just got traded WITH A 2ND for Nurkic. I think that should offer some approximation of Simons' value league-wide.

Trading jrue for simons was massive step backwards and there for sure better options out there.

Dallas apparently wanted him, kings wanted him for a start.

Brad choked and now we are stuck with simons.

Maybe we are going to have to take on more years of a crap player making less just to dump Simons.

Ant Simons and Sam Hauser to the Bucks for Kuzma and a 2031 swap (with Celts/Bucks giving 2 seconds for Charlotte to absorb Pat Connaughton)?

Those were just rumors. We have no idea what the actual offers were for Jrue that Brad received. The only offer we know of for sure if the Portland one, with Simons..

If you want to abbreviate his first name, it’s “Anf”

AnfMan is probably not going to become a thing, but I mean, everything’s possible

I feel like he's one of those guys that's due for a pretty significant paycut, though. Probably above MLE, but not much. 3/$60M +/- range? I doubt anyone throws a huge offer above MLE at him next summer.

After being an all nba PG leading the Cs to a chip he will get his max :)

Then Brad will flip him on that deal for Wemby, Flagg and a couple 2nds.

No way Brad does that deal unless he can get a first. Seconds are dumb. Lol.!

He gets trade as a salary reduction. We aren't doing basketball trades. Simons trades for two salaries, and we jettison 1 right away. If they can shave another $15 million off of the cap and dothua right they can they go for a big haul in 2026-2027

I think I read somewhere that Simons can be aggregated with another player in a trade starting around August 24? (don’t remember the exact date)

I expect we trade him for John Collins. Or bagels. But we’ll see!
