$14M for Kornet is insane to me. But I guess all NBA money is getting insane so maybe not? Just hard to wrap my head around lol

The owners are achieving what they set out to do when they ratified the new CBA -- break up super teams and have stars team-hop like crazy. Celtics will get outpriced and will definitely lose their champion center and franchise icon Luke Kornet.

Is Luke a fringe All-NBA player or a fringe-of-the-NBA player? Hard to say.

Spoiler:
That's supposed to be Neemias Queta, if you haven't gotten it already.

I like Kornet a lot, would be happy to keep him at 5 mil per, and I still think that's in play. I wouldn't go anywhere near 10.

Getting under the 2nd apron I believe allows Boston to pursue him. Although he’s a Klutch client so I doubt he’s playing here if the Lakers have anything to say about it.

I think they would need to be under the luxury tax to offer the full MLE

He is good. But not at $27M. Sorry. He wants to come back in 2026-27 at the MLE, fine.

6m per year is fair.

18m for 3 years.

Signs are that he’s likely to make a lot more than that.

Why should he take substationally less? This is a chance to set himself up for life. If he can get 3 years, $30M he has to do it. That's $10m a year for a proven backup center. He is nuts not to try and get that .
