Re: Shams: Blazers Buyout Deandre Ayton
He can put up 25 and 14 on any given night if they make a point to involve him in the offense. Luka and Lebron will do very well in the PNR with him, this was-like everyone has mentioned a clear move to gift him to the Lakers. I have no idea why they couldn't get literally anything for him.
It's addition by subtraction giving Clingan and Yang minutes but poor asset management. We gifted Powell on a 5 year 18 million dollar a year deal to the Clippers for nothing. Literally a second round pick and some rookie whose name I cant recall. I really don't like us just gifting players to LA teams, if Jody Allen gave a single flying **** about this team, they would have interviewed at least ONE qualified person to run the team, instead they just decided to promote a yes man so the Vulcans to cosplay GM from the shadows.
We're the laughing stock of the NBA.

They could have gotten firsts from a team looking to off load a 2 year deal (like a Beal type deal) as well. There are lots of options they didn't seem to explore before cutting a player like this lol

Do the Suns have any first to actually trade with Beal?

Depends on how into the future you are allowed to trade

I guess they could use five second rounds picks instead

Re: Shams: Blazers Buyout Deandre Ayton
I had a feeling something like this might happen with him. Even before the buyout, it seemed highly likely he ended up on the Lakers at some point.
I think they trade Jerami Grant next. Robert Williams III as well, but I suppose his value is pretty low right now.

Beal isn't waiving his no trade clause

under any circumstance? anyways, I said a Beal-type deal. There are others out there. Paul George, lotto protected 1st, and McCain for Ayton would work

They could get a Paul George type with package. Not sure how much the Sixers would need to add

Re: Shams: Blazers Buyout Deandre Ayton
That would be hilarious if we got PG13 to add to 35 year old Jrue.
Might as well sign cp3 after that, get a real big 3 going lol

Lakers should sign Bagley too so then they can have the top 3 picks from the 2018 draft

Re: Shams: Blazers Buyout Deandre Ayton
Nonsense like this makes fans wonder are things like draft rigged.
Who in right mind buys out former 1# pick ,26 years old productive center in last year of his deal?
Like , you could just flip him for one of picks to Nets, who have like $100M in salary books to fill and paper thin roster, talent vise.
I just don't buy into notion that nobody wanted to take swing at him. Guy isn't bad player, he ain't most motivated person to play hard but still, guy is 7 foot tall with solid foot speed and great feel for game.

Honesty don’t think fans know the true value of these players.

Maybe they dont, but even arm chair analysts can get a pretty good sense. Mismanagement has typically been easy to sniff out.

He can clearly be serviceable. Lebron and Luka are going to make him look like AD next season in PNR.
I really hope this was a wink wink deal on the back end to allow the Lakers to trade for Grant as well while sending a pick and Knecht back. It's not a crazy theory.
Then again, I don't think the blazers want anyone on the team that doesn't play defense.

Re: Shams: Blazers Buyout Deandre Ayton
I’m gonna LOL if he goes to the Lakers. I think Lebron and Luka will be chewing him out in no time. CharminAyton will crumble under the constant pressure. Dude does not play physical, he will focus on getting a new contract and will look to preserve his health so he can guarantee it. I feel he plays soft because he can maximize his health and career.
Being a Blazer fan isn't exactly healthy.

Does this mean Blazers get the #1 pick next year?
They‘ll have at least the highest % to get the #1 pick…

Ayton was an expiring and surely they could have gotten something for him and instead they lose him for nothing not even a few 2nd round picks...
Plenty of teams under the 1st apron that could sign him and there are some 1st apron teams that could shed a bit of salary to pick him up.

Or is it an admission that nobody likes him in the league and teams won't even trade for him?
Ayton is that bad.
Lol if he wasn't the #1 pick we wouldn't even be having this discussion.
It's actually really hard to get a center that has the same skills as Ayton does and us Suns learned the hard way that there are actually worse centers than Ayton and for all the things that he doesn't do he does some things very well like rebounding and cleaning up around the rim.
There are very few centers that have good touch in the mid range and can finish near the rim on super high efficiency like Ayton, the problem is that he is not really worth his current salary but on an expiring there should have been some teams willing to take a flyer on him.
