CHA/MIA
Charlotte trades Josh Green, Grant Williams, Vasa Micic (from Mark Williams trade), 2026 CHA 1st, 2027 MIA 1st, 2027 DAL 1st, 2029 UTA/CLE/MIN 1st
Miami trades Bam Adebayo
The picks are:
2026 CHA 1st (top 5 prot, otherwise becomes the other 1st- worst of PHX/ORL/MEM/WAS)
2027 MIA 1st (lotto prot, then unp in 2028 - returned to Miami)
2027 DAL 1st (top 2 prot, otherwise 2028 2nd)
2029 1st (worst of UTA/CLE/MIN)
Charlotte goes for it and actually acquires a high level starting center for a pick package. Melo/Kon/Miller/Bridges/Bam + [Mann]/Sexton/Okogie/Diabate + the full MLE is a viable top 9-10, and probably the deepest Hornets team since the Bobcats expansion.
Miami rebuilds with a large package of picks, and more than 90% of their cap space free in the offseason of 2027, as Green and Grant expire when Herro and Wiggins do. As of today, the Heat would only have Ware, Jaku, and their 3 2026-2027 1st round picks on the books that summer. Very real chance Micic presents some immediate cap savings in a buyout to go back to Europe as well.

Charlotte (2016) and Dallas (2027) are both likely to convey.

Re: CHA/MIA
This is a pretty mediocre package of picks for a guy of Bam's caliber.

My first thought and/or question would be: Is Bam worth more, less or equal to Bane? And go from there.

I see. You want both likely to convey picks AND high variance picks?
The 2027 Dallas 1st has variance.
What's an example of a realistic offer you can see for Bam?
Do you think Bane's package is a good starting point? Do you think the picks Memphis received are high-variance or the type of picks you would expect?
The team trading for Bam is doing so to be good now and over the duration of Bam's contract. What type of picks do you realistically expect?

I mean I think they want good picks. Dallas has Kyrie, AD, and Cooper Flagg, so the odds are they'll be a playoff team in 2027.
The 2029 is a "worst of" a bunch of picks, so probably not very good.
Miami's pick has decent upside, sure. Ironically it has more upside the worse Miami is.
Charlotte putting top 5 protection on their own pick when they're giving up no other blue chip pieces is a bit insulting

I think Bam is more valuable than Bane. I think Orlando gave playable pieces and 4 first round picks. I don't see Dallas as high variance when Cooper Flagg, AD, and Kyrie are in the team. Sorry, I don't like the hodgepodge of meh players and mediocre picks, all protected, that we're getting in return.

Re: CHA/MIA
You would think after dumping "Scary" Terry on us, Charlotte would be done with the Heat, but you guys are like Michael Myers. Let us get rid of the last junk before killing us again, ok?

I remember 11-30 with these guys. ^

Bam didn't look great in that Cavs series, undersized center that relies on athleticism. He may have just peaked guys.

Re: CHA/MIA
I'd do Josh Green + Salaün + Liam McNeeley + NSJ + all 4 Hornets outside 1st round picks.
Not sure how Heat plan to move forward with Ware. Seems they can sell high on Bam and slide in Ware.
What other teams bidding on Bam can offer 4 first round picks? Not sure who's in the market for him.
That Hornets 2026 1st should not be in there given next year's draft and Hornets mystery meat injury report.

Then what's the point for Miami?

Re: CHA/MIA
Brandon Miller or Kon Knueppel may have to be included in a Bam Adebayo trade to the Hornets, unless you're willing to remove all of the protection on their own picks. The Picks the Hornets have from other teams are quite medicore for the most part.

What's the upside for Miami here? This package is just a bunch of mediocre picks, two "prospects" who have looked pretty terrible at this level, and a guy who was just drafted 29th overall.
Bam is a top-50 player who hasn't asked out and is only 27. The Heat aren't going to move him for a bunch of meh pieces, especially after seeing lesser players like Bane and Bridges bring back huge returns. At least one blue chip asset (Miller, Kon, 2026 1st unprotected) would have to anchor the deal.

Not sure if they want to play 2 centers.

They don't need to, they chose to. Ware could have come off the bench last year, but they started him and moved Bam to his more natural position of power forward. Why, now, are we trading him for less than Desmond Bane got? I mean, no! You don't get the bargain discount, especially considering you're in our division!
