Edit - Sexton was even better last season that I thought. He posted a 48.0 /40.6 /86.5 split ... In fact career wise he's 47/39/84. I think people initially think he's some standard low efficiency chucker of a guard since that's kind of his rep, but his efficiency is pretty good. Is he not very similar to Zach Lavine? And paid way less.
He's an undersized shooting guard and Utah wanted to open up playing time for other players.
I don't know why they wanted Nurkic, but maybe they think they can flip him down the road? Or play him if they do a Kessler trade?
The last time he was traded a FRP attached was required to get rid of him.
Though it was with 2y left on his contract. Now that he's an expiring, the only way he can bring any value is if he is traded for a similarly bad, but longer contract, but hey, it would be true if they just retained Sexton.
Anyway, Nurkic is washed, I don't see any team making a move for him from a playing perspective.
