A lot of blanks for yall?
Assuming Det has minor interest in Klay due to things.. This started as a Simons deal, but figured I’d stop making those for a while..
Smart, Klintman to Dallas
Klay and Naji (use cap space or the MLE, I’d use cap space and keep the roomMLE but either way is legal) to Detroit
Simone to Washington
Detroit giving both teams a second? Or two seconds to your team?
Det gets two rotation pieces for a couple future seconds. Combined 25 -27 mil a year for the duo is a lot better than Klay for 16-17m.
Washington gets a Smart sized TPE to take on another salary dump when it’s time and gets something from Det.
Dallas maintains their tax space for DLO or whoever and brings in a decent vet that will be able to play with Kyrie later on? Martin is a fine enough fourth forward if the team is keeping all the bigs.

I don't love this on-court for Dallas, but when you combine that with the future financial flexibility I think Dallas would be smart to consider it.

Yeah, just got bored of getting -1 for trading any of the bigs. Hard to find good rotation pieces that don’t involve Naji or Klay or any of them. Tough to trade both. And tougher to make the spacing worse.
Don’t love this one either.

Can Christie seize a role playing half the game? He and Russell help with some of the spacing, but none of the forwards being plus shooters is definitely an issue. We might should be exploring ideas turning Gafford into a spacing 4? Especially if part of the offense answer pre-Kyrie is putting Flagg on ball more than I think he's likely to ready for.

Seems pointless for the Wizards. They're better off keeping Smart as a vet mentor.

Yeah, I think the answer would be trading Klay with other players for a playmaker and bringing in a cheaper spacing forward. Whether that’s one of Gaff/PJ or it is a stack of some of Naji, Martin, Hardy, Christie, Powell, etc..
This Det idea started as Simons/Hauser to Dallas. Dallas keeps their bigs until they can’t afford them but adds two good shooters.. Just decided to change it (completely)

Re: Value? Smart to Dallas, Klay+Naji to Det
I think the issue you’re running into is that no one wants to use up 16-17 mil for Klay. He’s still a very solid offensive player (in lower minutes than in the past), but his defense is pretty much completely shot and he’s not a leader or mentor type. He’s chill Klay, which worked great with the Dubs, but you can’t change his personality now.
Before he actively destroyed his own career, based on last year, Beasley was a better offensive player and better defender, and he was gonna be hella happy getting 3/42 to stay. There’s a lot of shoot shoot shooters floating around that don’t offer much else.

Re: Value? Smart to Dallas, Klay+Naji to Det
I’d suggest Boston/Simons either as a 3rd team or replacement.
WAS can acquire Marshall with their MLE and take back Simons via matching for Smart. Flip Klay to Boston. They get younger player but more importantly expiring vs multi year. Boston gets lower salary to mostly avoid the tax this year (would still have to tweak a bit).
If DAL prefers a scoring guard over Smart, I think Boston would do this for Simons even with Martin instead of Marshall.

IMO Naji is 3-5 mil underpaid, while Klay is 3-5 mil overpaid. So the math in OP was Det happily paying something minor for the duo since they both help on the court.
I agree (I think?) without including Naji, Klay would be pretty far down the list for Det .

Re: Value? Smart to Dallas, Klay+Naji to Det
Yea the spacing and losing Naji is a hit, but getting rid of Klay and getting a solid wing defender who can somewhat facilitate for others would be a wise move for Dallas.

Yeah, my bad idea started with Simons and Hauser to Dallas to keep spacing and add playmaking.
Det doing their deal and Boston using Dallas+Det seconds to dump 1-2 of Hardy/Martin/Simone/Niang to get all the way under the tax. Built up into some 4 team trade, or maybe a way to dump the mid salary on Det instead of them paying seconds here.
It could also flip to just Naji+Hardy to Det, Klay to Boston, Simons to Dallas, and Simone getting dumped on a fourth team using Dallas or Det 2nd(s)
