Think they working trade phones. Being able to dump gabe or maxi would help keeping DFS and get center help.

Also DFS unrestricted. He might just like what the rockets is building more so than where the lakers are at.

Oh I understand he is a free agent. Just all the noise is surrounding Houston going hard on him and nothing really about the Lakers trying to retain him. Surely the Busses can swing a slightly higher payroll knowing they are about to get a $10 billion dollar bounty? I'd money whip him to stay if they are serious about both winning with Lebron and getting Luka to commit long-term.

This has to be one of the dullest free agency periods in a while. Myles Turner, Jonathan Kuminga, and Dorian Finney-Smith being the marquee free agents is tough.

Definitely no big names, though big names moving in free agency is always the exception and not the rule and we've had CBA's for a while now where operating over the cap is almost always more beneficial than clearing cap space and so we've seen most teams choose that route.

But for me I find the minutia of putting together a roster in creative ways super interesting. I don't just like the blockbuster stuff(though I like it too!) but I like all the little deals on the margins, the apron/tax dodges, etc....

So for me anyway this cycle is never boring, but I do follow this board closely and do realize a large percentage of posters here only like the big stuff so I do feel bad for you guys if we don't get more stuff.

Of course its still possible Giannis and Lebron both get traded which would certainly qualify....

SO Nico preaches defense wins championship and the importance of culture, yet the FA target is D'Angelo Russell

Not to mention his issue with Luka missing games (which I get) only to trade him for AD and want to re-sign Dante Exum who makes AD look like Cal Ripken Jr

Free agency is going to be boring more often then not in today's NBA. Teams can negotiate with their guys early to pull them out of free agency and relaxed extension rules make it better for guys to take the money and maybe try to get traded later. Off-season is more about the trade market now. Best player to change teams the last three free agency periods was Paul George at the time but probably FVV in retrospect which is not particularly exciting

I mean you still have to score. And Dallas has the TMLE to offer. You aren't getting a stud 2-way PG For that. They want Chris Paul, but it sounds like geography is a prime consideration for him. And if Kidd can't build a competent defense with Russell on the court with all these defenders.....

I know you are extremely bitter. I get that. But in evaluating what comes next we have to look at it outside of a lens of hating AD for being the guy received for Luka, hating Klay for being old instead of realizing he's just a role player with a valuable skill, and thinking great defense means you can't have any poor defenders on the roster.

It will make this easier to take. It sucks, but we are here.

I really, really want DFS on Detroit, with Grayson Allen, but I haven't heard any buzz about that.

The whole waiting for the new league year to negotiate contracts with players from other teams is such a joke. Hopefully the NBA will just drop the farce and just say that free agents can start talking to other teams once the finals are over.

How in the heck do we already know that (saw this pop up on Bleacher Report) "D'Angelo Russell, Mavs reportedly expected to land 2-Year, $12M contract"

Sounds like it may be about a done deal. Fischer said last night it's below the full mle so guessing it's everything they can offer below the tax

DFS and like Capela is just way better than just Ayton. How are they going to stop anyone

Anfernee Simons and Bos 2026 1st (top 5 protected)
Looming for a big that can be on a multi year contract but less than 25 m per year. Bring your best offers.

Laughable choice if true, but I doubt it, I think they are restting, clear all contracts and build around Luka/Reaves with cap space.

It’s probably the source of the idea.. But Brooklyn should do that and take Niang..

which is probably why lebron is mad, could be his last year and they want to burn it to reset their sheets

I’d have paid a couple seconds to turn Maxi into some MLE-big, signed Capela or Brolo and kept DFS.

I really don’t like LAL wasting LBJ’s probable last season, wasting a year of Luka just to chase free agency next year? That’s what it feels like to me (Reaves cap hold should be like 20-22mil?).. you could defend it better if you were chasing Joker or Giannis… but this is Bridges? Maybe Trae if you ignore roster fit completely..

Utah is waiving Johnny Juzang. Any insight here Jazz fans? He's got decent size for a wing and shot well enough from 3 that it seems like he'd be worth a roster spot somewhere.
