Is it confirmed we are retaining Miller?

Fairly certain I saw his option was picked up/guaranteed, but currently not finding it.

Ingles on a minimum is a waste of a roster space. You already have Mike as the vet guy everyone loves. Ingles on 3.6 is disgusting. All of you TC defenders, remember this when we get bounced in the playoffs because we lack a ******g PG and cannot sign one with the full TPMLE now! TC needs to GTFO!

He counts 2.3M. The same as a 2nd year vet.
Its fine.
and cannot sign one with the full TPMLE now!
We still needed to sign 2 players. One was always going to be for the minimum. That's what happened.

I do think there is something to Joan having Rudy and Rocco having Joe, as well. If having someone from your home country can help assimilate a player to the city, country, and team culture, I think it's absolutely worth trying.

The Wolves now have 13 players under contract for next season, and must roster a minimum of 14. So at least one free agent to go.
The question is how much can they spend on that free agent. And I believe the answer is the full taxpayer mid-level exception ($5.685M).
I have the Wolves $7,540,297 below the 2nd apron -- assuming Randle and Reid's contracts both scale up with 8% raises annually.
However, Donte DiVincenzo ($750k) and Jaden McDaniels ($1M) have "unlikely bonuses" in their contracts for next season -- and those incentives do count against the 2nd apron.
(Julius Randle also had $1.5M in unlikely bonuses in his previous deal, but by *not* opting in to his player option and instead signing for basically the same number but without the unlikely incentives, at the personal advantage of locking up more long-term money, that $1.5M that would have counted against the 2nd apron is no longer there. I need to confirm that's what happened with Randle's incentives -- but I know it was trending that way to be the plan.)
So we take the $7,540,297 (current space) - $1,750,000 (McDaniels and DiVincenzo incentives) and that leaves the Wolves with $5,790,297 in spending power below the 2nd apron.
It would be *tight* up against the 2nd apron, and they would be hard-capped at the 2nd apron if they used it, but the Wolves *could* use the taxpayer midlevel exception to sign a free agent for up to $5,685,000.

I think NAW's market is going to catch some people off guard. Like honestly, an AAV approaching $30 million would not shock me. Under $20 million would shock me though.

Is it confirmed that Rocco is coming over? Also thank you for pointing out the 3.6 is the vet minimum. I was furious to think we actually used money from the limited pool left. I still hate the move, but nearly as much.

So, we are likely looking at these guys for our 14th roster spot?
Are there any PG making less than $5.7M that a team would want to get off their contract?

If Melton is looking good in his injury rehab I'd like him a lot here.
I bought a boat.

I don't know if he's obtainable, but Jose Alvarado at 4.5M would be ideal.

I also like Melton but it's been awhile since he's been healthy or good like he was in Memphis unfortunately.
Sharpe back in BKN for 2 years 12m.

Kris Dunn - 5.4 Idk why LAC would but he's a name, maybe they dump him if they get CP3. Only other name as someone mentioned I see is Jose Alverado.

For what it is worth, t's a minimum contract with a <$2.3MM cap hit, they had to sign a minimum guy anyways. Only way to finaggle any additional cap space would be signing a random 0-year player to a contract, but that would only shave off a couple hundred thousand.
Minnesota had to sign someone, and they opted for continuity. I'm honestly not crazy about it, but I predicted it prior to free-agency.
EDIT: Others answered first.

It was the money. A minimum is one thing, but we need the space for the TPMLE. I would prefer Minott or a ln undrafted to Ingles, but the money for the PG is what I was pissed about.

I just don't see Minott being happy glued to the bench in his 4th year. Its better for everyone if he tries to find a team where he has a chance to play.
Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
