Big Utah/Chi Deal

Post#1 » by pipfan » Mon Jun 30, 2025 8:41 am

Since it's clear Utah is full tank, how about this deal?
Bulls send PWill/Vuc/JCarter/rights to Noa E/Port pick/2026 Bulls' 1st (top 4 protected)

Utah sends Kessler/Lauri

Utah adds Noa and 2 picks and goes full tank. MAYBE they can help PWill become a player again. This clears A TON of cap space for next summer as well for the Jazz

Bulls go huge and have a lineup of
White/Ayo
Giddey/Okoro
Matas/Huerter
Lauri/JSmith
Kessler/Collins
That's a ton of size and should have plenty of scoring. Phillips/Terry is the deep bench, and they could still bring back Tre Jones for depth

I wouldn't trade Lauri AND Kessler for what amounts to a late lottery pick and a mid first + some 2nds from Portland. Plus we have to take on a bunch of bad money and figure out what to do with Vucevic. Take out Kessler, maybe give the 26 pick sliding protections that are a bit more favorable to Chicago and there could be something here. Center should be easy to address without us also giving Kessler, I do not think the value is here to include him.

Sure, my original deal was just for Lauri-this one is probably greedy
Would you do Noa/Vuc (3rd team?)/PWill/Terry/Port pick for Lauri?
White/Ayo
Giddey/Okoro
Matas/Huerter
Lauri/Phillips
Collins/JSmith
That team wins a lot of games

I would not but if the front office really likes Essengue maybe they would.

I have no desire for any pick with protections. The whole point of trading a good player for picks is you hope they hit. Odds are they don’t, but that’s the hope and without the chance a pick hits and you get lucky it’s a situation where you have no upside.

So the start of any conversation for Lauri or Kessler would be unprotected picks.

And I assume the Jazz are in the ballpark of at least two for either Lauri or Kessler. Not saying they are or aren’t with that, but that’s what I think has been basically reported the Jazz want for either. At least that’s what has been in the “news” for Kessler.

You trade good players for picks to make your own picks good. Picks from the other team is for filling out the roster and trades.

I'd want expirings if I was Utah. But I like the concept. I dont think PWill is needed here, and also hurts Chicago package.

Zach Collins or Huerter + Vuc + Carter + Noa + 2 1sts for Kessler + Lauri.

Noa for Kessler seems fair
Expirings + 2 1sts for Lauri also seems fair.

Jazz go hard at the tank again. Chicago tries to win.

That may be how you would do things as a GM. It’s not how I would do it. Protected picks in this environment are not something I have a desire for trading good players for. So politely…no thanks.

Dropping PWill makes Lauri's huge deal more manageable
So let's just try PWill/Terry/Noa/Port pick, Vuc to a 3rd team (Char/LAL-other options) with Lauri to Chi

Stop trading for Lauri, he does not move this team anywhere.

Stop trading for Lauri. Every deal offered for him sucks.

Given that his contract is nearly 50M and he's not worth that I don't know why you would expect anything good?

No desire to move him, certainly not for dreck.
