Didn't realize how bad the FA class was until I saw NAW and DFS as top adds this summer.
Gotta give credit to Bobby/Masai for getting Ingram this past deadline

Re: Free Agency & Trades Rumours Thread
Nic Claxton is the player that makes a ton of sense to me to target. He is a strong rim protector and really efficient with his offense. I know the Lakers were interested, but they are likely going to pursue easier veteran options like Ayton or Capela.
He is under contract for a few years at a reasonable $24m a season. I'd offer RJ Barrett and Ochai and take on Nic Claxton and Terrence Mann. Toronto could add two future firsts (protected) to sweeten the deal.
Jordi Fernandez knows RJ from Team Canada and he offers some star power, and Ochai is a very good defender to add into their mix.
Toronto gets two players who they can start or have come off the bench and they are strong two-way players. Claxton is ideal because he can replace Poeltl once we are ready to move on. Mann seems like a very Raptorsy hardworking wing with playoff experience.

You want Claxton backing up Poeltl? Or are the Raps trading Poeltl?
Because no one is investing $50m in the center position in the modern nba.

Well technically the Knicks are investing 65 million plus
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?
Please advise….

Re: Free Agency & Trades Rumours Thread
Back to Schröder: The 31-year-old, as we've reported for several days now, is expected to come to a swift agreement with Sacramento once free agency officially begins. The Kings are believed to be preparing a two-year deal for Schroder at an estimated $28 million.
Ditto for D'Angelo Russell in Dallas. The most that the Mavericks can offer Russell is a two-year, $12 million deal but that is also regarded by rival teams as a Night 1 lock.
League sources say veteran center Al Horford will be a top target for Golden State.
Jonathan Kuminga's restricted free agency, by contrast, is expected to be a slowing-moving process in Golden State. It did not appear, as of lunchtime Monday, that the Warriors or Kuminga's representation had a specific resolution in mind for the 22-year-old forward's immediate future.
While a return to the Warriors remains in play for Kuminga, sources say Miami, Chicago, Sacramento and New Orleans are among the teams looming as potential suitors by way of possible sign-and-trade scenarios. Golden State would be willing to help facilitate a move for Kuminga to join a new team, but only if such a transaction were to outweigh the benefits of keeping Kuminga on their roster.
The strong expectation is that midseason acquisition Tre Jones will re-sign with Chicago.
The Bucks are actively working to trade Pat Connaughton and are said to have a couple potential avenues to a deal.
Add the Pelicans, Knicks and Timberwolves to the ever-growing list of teams said to be in the market for veteran guards. The Knicks, in fact, are said to be a possible destination — in addition to Sacramento and a potential return to Denver — for Russell Westbrook.
The Knicks are also expected to join Orlando in registering interest in Tyus Jones.
Sources say Washington has continued to gauge the trade market on Marcus Smart and the recently acquired Kelly Olynyk, who became a Wizard as part of the recent deal with New Orleans headlined by Jordan Poole and CJ McCollum.
On the coaching front: It is believed that DeMarre Carroll and Brian Randle will fill two of the three front-of-bench spots on Jordan Ott's first staff in Phoenix … with Ott said to be seeking a former NBA head coach as his top assistant.

I think you bring in Claxton and then eventually move on from Poeltl who will be 30 soon. The problem right now is we have no competent alternative to Poeltl so we are stuck with him and his next deal may not be so team friendly.

If you’re not resigning Poeltl, then you are looking to trade him.
So then yes, I agree getting Claxton would be a good move.
I think they are planning on extending Poeltl.

OKC is paying Chet, Hartenstein and Jaylin Williams close to $50m. Depth is important especially having size for the playoffs.

I recall the extension talks and Grange keeps mentioning it:
Even if we extend him, I think we need to clear the wing glut prepare for the future. We can look to trade Poeltl even next season, and if he has a good deal there will be interest.
I will say Toronto does unusual things focusing on defense and I think we have been in rumours for Claxton since 2022.
