I started this I think. And I already acknowledged that I understand what unrestricted free agency means. :D

My point was the reports are saying he is signing for less than the MLE. I'd be pretty surprised if DFS left LA and Luka if they used Bird Rights to pay him more than the MLE.

It doesn't sound like LA might lose him because he prefers Houston but because LA isn't willing to give him $$ and years. And I think that's a dumb decision if true.

How much money lakers got to offer and stay under second apron ? From my math don’t look like they can offer enough to match a no tax state in Texas.

Would need to dump Gabe or maxi. At that point you could probably trade for a 3 and d wing.

When Dwight went to the rockets his 4/80 deal was pretty close to the money he would made on his 5/125 offer by the lakers.

With all the players resigning with their original teams this is going to be a fairly quiet free agency period.

Found this list from CBS Sports - they have the top 10 free agents as:

Myles Turner
Kuminga (R)
Giddey (R)
NAW
Ayton
DFS
Beasley
Ty Jerome
Brook Lopez
Al Horford

Might be Dlo last chance for redemption. My money on him to sign first.

Not upset about NYK winning this round of tampering.

Not sure who has more left in "the tank" between Brook Lopez and Horford - but I'm hoping we can get one of those guys, and Horford feels a bit more Warriors-y

If they buyout Nurkic as well to open up cap ahead of FA, the Sexton trade will make a lot more sense.

Seems like they're dreaming but Stein saying Rockets are trying to see if they can make a run at Kennard in addition to DFS

For who? They're the Jazz, even if there is a big name free agent available he wouldn't be going there, and there aren't any big name free agents anyway. Are they going to make a crazy offer to Kuminga/Myles Turner/Josh Giddey?

Seems like an insane fit as long as he doesn't break down.

They could make a substantial offer to Kuminga.

I think we'd probably end up carrying 5 bigs (Draymond, Horford, TJD, Post, and a re-signed Looney) and hopefully that spreads the wear & tear enough to keep Dray & Al in fighting shape for the playoffs.

After drafting Bailey and still having Lauri? Maybe they do like him, but he does not feel like a guy who is getting paid big money by a team willing to bet on him, and Ainge doesn't feel like the GM that would be willing to do it either.

I wouldn't worry too much about roster construction at this point - if they think JK has untapped potential they might as well see if they can unlock it. If Ace, JK, and Lauri are all popping off in 2 years, that's a good problem to have.

Kuminga has already proven he is going to be a problem if you have guys getting opportunities in front of him, paying him 30 million dollars to continue that seems insane. I don't know, I just don't see why a team would be willing to take the sizable risk he wants on a guy who is a below average scorer with tunnel vision. The problem isn't going to be all three of them popping off, it's going to be paying a sizable portion of the cap to a bad player with a bad attitude.
