Guys like Mann and Kennard are stabilizing players, but not needle movers, these are the guys who do get moved in these situations. Eric Gordon was expiring and brought a somewhat similar skillset.

The team essentially gets out of two more years of contract. While there's also some different ability related reasons, the primary reason is what everyone is managing, which are those aprons.

It's hard to justify paying $100 million in tax for a $15 million guy multiple seasons in a row.

If we think it's all about basketball ability and skills, we're missing the forest for the trees. Salary moves do have to be made.

GREAT point. Plus losing your MLE and being able to sign guys in the buyout market. Geez, it cost the Hawks the #22 pick to dump Mann on the Nets!

Well he’s off the potential list. Hornets have a lot of guards now no?

Against holding on to Simmons for some of the same reasons. Don’t know how much he can/will play. A lot of trouble and distractions with him. There may be a team that would accept him warts and all, but I’m glad it’s not us. It was worth a try.

If we could get a decent 20 minute per game PF/C (mainly a four), we’d be cooking. A player I’ve mentioned before that’s a FA this year is Trey Lyles. He’s another guy to look at as a mid-rotation, or even 20 mpg starting, 4/5. Zach Lowe says we’ll be going after Ty Jerome, which would be fine … in the sense that it makes/confirms Bogie is on the block. Could be an interesting offseason.

Yes, Trey Lyles would be a good fit. Solid 3/D big on both ends, won't really hurt the team out there. Better served on a team that has a committed, established defensive system too. On SAC his impact is diminished.

Ty Jerome would be a decent upgrade over Bogie at this point. Had a nice playoff run.

Yes.
Legit option for backup C, capable starter. Upgrade over Eubanks. Throw back type big.. which I like quite a bit. Doesn't space the floor jumpshot wise, but is still a rim-roll threat in that regard.

Another intriguing player when I’ve watched him play. Not a bad option if other bigger names go quickly.

Still other solid options of course... could just trade for Jalen Smith soon.. and get it over with : )

Yeah I like Barlow, young hybrid forward.. very good size, can play 3/4. Good work ethic and active presence. Improving shooter.

Clips just playing out the Kawhi contract and waiting for the draft picks to come back

might as well win some games because there's no advantage in tanking, our 2026 pick is gone

The Los Angeles Clippers' 2026 first-round pick is owed to either the Oklahoma City Thunder or the Philadelphia 76ers, with the Thunder having the right to swap for the most favorable of their own, the Clippers', or the Houston Rockets' 2026 first-round picks, while the 76ers receive the least favorable of these three.

This was a bummer for me. He just kinda seems like the perfect fit. A combo guard who is young and plays with a lot of intensity. He could take pressure off Harden, create his own shot, and is super competitive. He also has the potential to go to another level. So to see him get traded for so cheap is tough.

I agree about Sexton. Sorry he's off the market.

Seems like teams looking for a combo guard will make a run at Nickeil Alexander-Walker or Ty Jerome. Jerome scores more; NAW is better on D and has been more durable. I'd be looking at offering NAW one of those guys something in the $8-$11 million range, hopefully leaving enough to sign a 4/5 backup. And, yes, I'm with KL2 -- Dominick Barlow would be very interesting for the remainder of the MLE.

Adding to this; looks like the Mavs are going to get D'Angelo Russell and need to clear salary and a roster spot. They want to unload Olivier Maxence Prosper ... and we have a trade exception. Just sayin'.

Johnny Juzang and Tre Mann are now free agents. Interesting names to mull.

Liked OMP a lot coming out of college. Interesting young player for versatility, depth on both ends at SF/PF. Needs to improve his jumpshot though. Would he fare more than Kobe Brown? More athletic than Kobe, less of a facilitator than Kobe.

Clarkson has balanced his game out decently since leaving the Lakers. Wouldn't mind him coming in.
