Definite win/win trade

Nuggets shed MPJ's contract and save 34 million over the next 2 years AND get a similarly productive player back

Brooklyn get an unprotected 2032 1st that could easily be very high once Jokic is winding down his career or off the team entirely

My first instinct is to call this a win-win. Nets get another asset and Denver gets a similar piece while being able to add depth.

I think it's mostly because Cam's contract is for way less money, 17 million for next year alone.

Plus, the Nets can try and rehabilitate Porter Jr.’s value in Jordi Fernandez’s system like they did with Cam Johnson.

Getting a unprotected FRP is nuts.

Great deal for the Nets. I think Cam is overrated, but MPj is a foolsgold player, so fine.

Denver saved like $17 million in salary per year

The Nets have the cap space to absorb Porter Jr’s extra $17M.

I don't know how good Cam is, but I think 99% of RGMers underrate what an all-time elite shooter MPJ has been when healthy.

However, if this is really Cam + a solid rotation player into the cap space, then this is great for Denver.

Titles are only available while Jokic is prime. Go get one! Or more!

Brooklyn has capspace. Porter is absorbed into some of it.

He’s not, but if the $17M saved allows the Nuggets to add a quality player or two with the MLE, it’s worth it for them.

EDIT: Nuggets save like 17M next year. So this may position them better for other deals or the apron struggle.

Give them the full access to mid level

They could also use that 17m to trade for somebody. They’ll get a nice tpe or could expand the deal. Tons of teams looking to move off guys to save cap $$.

Fair trade for both teams. Johnson could excel in DEN next to Jokic. He's turned into a versatile player and much more than the "3 & D" shooter he was drafted to be.

Yea, Cam isn't really a healthy guy, but Nuggets are saving a lot of money

Trading into cap room. If you have cap room then you can take on more salary than you are sending out. That's why Denver is paying the draft pick, so that Brooklyn absorbs the additional $17M salary
