The amount of money being thrown around is crazy. Davison Mitchell $12 mil a year?
Bickerstaff: who's up for kickball?!!
Ed Wood: Only if it's the no-pants variety.

Re: NBA Free Agency — 2025 Edition
Unless I’m missing something, the Wizards don’t have much cap space. How’s that even possible!???!
I hope I’m missing something. I’m not a numbers-cruncher, but we should make a play for Deandre Ayton, if possible.

I may be wrong but I can’t imagine the Wiz signing anyone. We already have our trade deadline sell off vets. And our roster is bloated.

We need a Center that can set picks and rebound. Im looking for Sharpe or Looney to help compliment Sarr and Vuk.

You have to put it into the context of the rapidly expanding cap room thanks to the new TV deal.
The tax threshold this past season was about $171M.
This season, it will be: $188M
Next season, it will be: $207M
In 2027-28, when we have to resign our first young player, Bilal, it will be: $227M
That's an increase in $56M in just 4 years.
Or to look at it another way: right now, Kispert's contract of $13.97M is 9% of the cap. But because it stays relatively flat while the salary cap rises, by Year 4, it will only be 6.6% of the cap. So by then, although the contract will cost $13.1M, it will feel like a $10.4M contract.
We should be able to leverage this phenomenon a great deal as we resign our rookies. Signing them to declining Deni-style contracts in the face of massively increasing cap figures will allow us to "overpay" them early but get their salary down really cheap at a time when we are trying to resign the rest of our guys.

It depends whether or not they are intentionally leaving a hole at center to tank.
Also, if they do decide to fill that gap, they will probably be looking at a one-year signing. The quality free agents will want longer deals. We may just resign Richaun Holmes to a one year deal and maintain continuity.

Bobby Marks had 1 move he would do for every team and he suggested 2 yrs/$10 million for Looney. I would assume the 2nd year is a player option.

It's rumored Luke Kornet might be getting most if not all the MLE from some team. It's just insane lol. This dude is a vet minimum, maybe $5 mil per year player at best.

We need to make sure we keep our pick. To pay what
might be an exorbitant amount for someone who puts
that at risk seems to be putting the cart before the horse. To overpay for someone who doesn't do that
also seems foolish. I believe Dawkins/Winger definitely
understand that and will act judiciously.

No worth the risk. Its like drafting a QB and sticking him behind a terrible OLINE that gets him killed and throws off his timing, confidence, etc for years to come.
If we have two young, thin, stretch 5's (Sarr & Vuk) playing most all the minutes, we will certainly lose a TON of games... But we may also stunt the growth of guys like Bub and Tre who need picks to create space. Thats why a guy like Looney is a great fit.

I’m curious as to how much Ayton commands in FA.
Very productive, but not living up to the expectations of the teams that brought him in.

Jake Fischer: The Kings are also planning to meet with Malcolm Brogdon, per sources, among their other point guard options. Doesn’t have to be, but the Wizards are willing to help facilitate a sign-and-trade with Brogdon, sources say. 1 hour ago – via Twitter JakeLFischer
Sources say Washington has continued to gauge the trade market on Marcus Smart and the recently acquired Kelly Olynyk, who became a Wizard as part of the recent deal with New Orleans headlined by Jordan Poole and CJ McCollum. 3 hours ago – via marcstein.substack.com

Re: NBA Free Agency — 2025 Edition
Day’Ron Sharpe would be a nice add if they can get him. He could play with Sarr, or just work in a rotation to take some of the pounding off him. And he's only 23 so he fits the roster and could be a long term piece as a role player.

Re: NBA Free Agency — 2025 Edition
I know the C market has been suppressed but you have to think that Sharpe on a 6 million a year contract would be tradable
Making extreme statements like "only" sounds like there are "no" Jokics in this draft? Jokic is an engine that was drafted in the 2nd round. Always a chance to see diamond dropped by sloppy burgular after a theft.
