I don't like it at all. A very poor replacement.

What other option do we have? We need a backup guard to replace Beasley. I dont want Levert either, but he's at least a decent defender.

yeah... not a huge fan of levert but he does give the bench another ball handler/creator. that amount looks like it's our mid-level exception so we're definitely going to be making more moves.

Out: Beasley & Schroder
In: Caris Levert

That's a nightmare.

It's more about the money to me. I hope the second year is a team option at least...

The other option would be not grossly overpaying a bad player.

The team makeup has changed. The vet leader dogs are gone. And a wall flower has been added.

If we have cap space we don't get a BAE we only get a room exception.

.can split the room exception up so maybe thats what we'll do

At this point my hope is still re-signing Beasley later in the summer with his non Bird rights. I was the first one to push the idea of Durant and have also been on the Lauri train. So there's still that.

Ok so it's Sasser/Lanier time to shine if Levert is our secondary ball handler?

If everything around Beasley calms down and we reup him for the 7.2 we can offer I'll like this so much more.

We gave LaVert the full MLE amount starting of $14.1 million so we for sure are operating as an over the cap team. Allows us to possibly sign Beasley to a 1 year $7.2 million deal in a few months if he gets cleared.... also allows us to keep our options open with THJ's bird rights.

I mean our team looks pretty decent if we can somehow still sign Beasley. Just gotta find a good backup PF

I think I’d almost rather have Ausar be the backup PG over Ivey, so maybe this move isn’t too bad if Schroeder isn’t going to come back. Maybe we should pick up Cole Anthony, and nab another conference rivals former rotation player.
