I just think our current top 4 scoring options can give us a top 10 offense. Probably, a rudimentary way to look at it but here's their career averages/high seasonal PPG.
LaMelo - 21.0/25.2
Miller - 18.3/21.0
Sexton 18.8/24.3
Miles 15.7/21.0
The 4th scoring option is Miles who scored 21 points in a season.
The oldest is Miles and Sexton - both 26.
It just looks like the makings of a young core.
We can't Mason Plumlee this season with all that scoring talent on this roster right now. It's the most scoring talent we've seen since we won 43 games with LaMelo, Rozier, Hayward, and Miles.
I like Sexton more than Terry and Miller more than Hayward.
Thing is you're just looking at the offense. Our roster is pretty bad defensively. As much needed scoring Sexton brings he's also equally bad on defense.
If we are making a big move it needs to be for a real impact player. Trading a few picks for a Claxton is not going to take us to another level.
Now if we talking Bam or even Gobert okay now I can see a team trying to really compete. We need to add some defense to this roster. I like Ben Simmons maybe get him for cheap now we have a real piece that can actually guard the opposing teams best offensive player.
Will be interesting to see what our next move is.
That is why I suspect we will add a core player at 5 who can defend.
The top scoring options are under 26. The draft was all about scorers in the first round.
It is time to swing a position in the starting lineup to defense.
And if we stay healthy, I do believe Sexton + Claxton moves the needle, because we'd also be getting a full season of Miller, LaMelo, and Mann.
It just feels like we're closer to competing than we have been since they fired Borrego.

I don't see the hype with Claxton he's athletic and mobile, but he's not taking over games defensively.
If we go for a big move I hope it's Bam.

Given our top 4 scoring options, I would not pay a premium for Bam's scoring/spacing. I would concentrate resources in defense, and save assets. I do not think we will go all-in before we see how the offense and defense looks with some health and some infrastructure.
We should position ourselves to buy at the trade deadline, so 1) We need to buy a little more now 2) we need 1/2 season to evaluate players 3) we have to look at our record before making a big buy where we empty a truckload of draft capital.
Sexton was a move towards competing for the play-in. We need 1 more move on that level. And Sexton looks like a bargain.
I don't expect Allen or Claxton to be as cheap.

Sexton has never played in the playoffs in his entire career lol. Look I love the trade, but we still have a lot of work to do before I'm thinking playoffs. Sexton is a nice piece to add with our core no doubt, but unless we get a real impact center I'm still thinking we need to lower the expectations with this current roster.
If we making a jump to the playoffs it's because Miller took a major step from his rookie and sophomore season. I wish Lee would run more plays for Miller last season it felt like he was just a catch n shoot 3pt guy. He's much more than a 3pt shooter imo.
I'm not mad at the Claxton idea, but it has to make sense I don't want to trade multiple picks for a minimal upgrade over Mark Williams at center. Hell some may say Mark is better than Claxton lol.

i think OKC wins pretty effortlessly but the Rockets are likely the best of the rest
they are however, positioned well for a big deal when another star player hits the trade market.
investigate Adam Silver

Capela to Rockets - great backup big for them. Horford sounds like he's being circled by GSW.

Re: Offseason 2025 Thread
Giannis is definitely going to ask out. Bucks have no cap space and just lost Lopez.
No trade assets either.
Peterson might be holding out for Giannis boys!

Re: Offseason 2025 Thread
The West-East balance is nuts. OKC/Houston are legit loaded, Denver got better too.
