Why you grouping DFS with Aldama? You think 4 years at big money is a good deal for a 32 year old?

Don't particularly like it, but I don't hate it either.

As I alluded to recently, I'm not nearly as hung up on trying to replace Beasley as most others are. Also while Levert isn't the 3pt shooter Beasley is, but he's much more versatile scorer, can be a secondary facilitator, and not nearly as one dimensional overall.

Only a 2 year deal, so at worst he'll be a tradeable contract next summer at neutral value.

I'm disappointed in TL if he knew of Beasley's situation long before the draft. It's very rare you see a young stretch 4 or 5 moved on a first year contract, even from bad teams. TL should have trade back into the first round imo.

I see this as a THJ replacement signing. LaVert is actually better than THJ, when he’s healthy….

Pistons are taking a step back next season, regardless.

They got the same deal, both received MLE money. One was just for 4 years and the other 2. If a guy ain't worth it for 4 years he ain't worth it for 2.

I'm sure Trajan knew of the Beasley situation before we did, but I'm not sure he got wind of it a whole lot earlier than the public did. The Feds were under no obligation to inform Beasley's employer that he's being investigated.

I would imagine the process is still in the infancy stages.

Those 2 years make a contract harder or easier to trade. I know numbers have gone up, but 62 million for NAW just seems high to me. I don't think they are gonna get full value from that contract.

For the record I would rather have had Ty Jerome then either of them, I think hes still trending upward vs Lavert and NAW. Oh well, lets see what else is in store.

Yah Hawks have had a fantastic offseason not sure what that is all about.

I'm warming up to it calming down not expecting him to fill Beasleys role. Trusting the front office!

Sir all that "traceable contract" talk is warped bs thinking fans have adopted recently and it's stupid. He's mid 20s so you expect him to perform at the same level the next 4 years. So if he's worth $15 million today, he'll be worth it in 3 years. Contract length matters if a guy is over 30 and declining.

They've had a good offseason, I could see them being better than the Pistons next year.

I would have preferred NAW who will average 15.5 million per year, which is around the same as Levert.

I don't like kicking down the can and would love to have signed NAW for 4 years.

Saying NAW is a bad contract is pure cope.

They had the inside tract on him- he wasn't signing with us. And that stinks.

But lets not have sour grapes about it.

I hear ya, Im just trying to rationalize the signing still. Do we know if the 2nd year is guaranteed?

No I'm not. I think the Pistons overachieved last season a lot due to Beasley and then Scroeder and the Hawks improved pretty considerably this offseason. I could see the Pistons in the play-in and the Hawks in the playoffs. A lot will depend on Ivey and how he fits in. If he continues on an upward trajectory, I can see the Pistons in the 5-6 seed range but if he doesn't fit in, the Pistons could see a sizeable step back.

for reference, levert has made at least $16M the last five seasons (on two different contracts). it's right in line with his value.

Does his trajectory appear to be ascending or declining?

When he was younger, I could understand that price tag but he’s a know commodity now and he best seasons appear to be behind him.

he's been pretty steady. last season he put up numbers comparable to his career averages, and it was on the best TS% of his career. impact metrics like EPM still have him as a positive player. he's a bench guy, his role will just to be a vet that keeps the bench offense running smoothly.

Snakebites wrote:Someone on the Transactions board said given his play style he's more of a THJ/Schroder replacement than a Beasley replacement.

i wouldn't even say THJ, he's easily closest to a schroder replacement. levert loves getting downhill, he ccan handle the ball decently well for a bigger guard and is a solid playmaker, averaging 4-5 assists a game. play-style wise he;s pretty much a bench version of RJ barrett, if that helps.
