That’s half the MLE. The Magic are now hard capped at the first apron.

- Has on-court chemistry with Desmond Bane. Will feel like how Cory Joseph steadied us at the end stretch and for the Playoffs last season. But 10x better.
- Shot 40% 3P% in MEM’s deepest Playoffs run.
- Has an absurd almost 4 APG to 1 TO ratio in full Playoffs career so far.
- Had a 7.3 APG to 1 TO season recently in WAS, and it was still under 30 MPG.
- Absolutely ridiculous 41.4% 3P% for last two regular seasons in a row.

I think a trade is coming (Jett, JI, Goga) to open up money to fill the roster with Mo and at least one more body.

If we really want to make a push this year, I can’t see how we get rid of Goga or JI… especially with Mo out. We have no dependable bigs off the bench without them. Jett I can for sure see being shipped out if the DeVos’ ask to cut costs… or if it’s needed to make Mo happy.

1 year versus 3 years.

The Magic only want Tyus around long enough until Jase is ready to take the spot.

Mo will probably not be ready for the season, we can’t get rid of JI and Goga so that Mo can fill the spot just yet.

Called it. Surprised it’s $7 mil. instead of $5-5.5 mil.
Makes me think a trade is coming.

One way I see it is that, this is the premium to contract him for 1 year only. If it was for 2-4 seasons, I would guess he would have taken 5.1 mil per year.

The other way I see it is that, Tyus Jones is doing the same thing he did in PHX. He prefers 1 year deals because he thinks he can get a legitimate 10+ mil multi-year contract someday. You can not ignore his CP3 imitation with better shooting for long, especially if he gets to show it off in the Playoffs.

I see it the first way a little more, but both can have some simultaneous truth. I guess the Magic wanted him for 1 year to see how he fits in and how bad his defense hurts. We can also reevaluate AB and Jase at the end of that 1 year. And the Magic felt safe enough having Bird Rights on Tyus’s UFA in 1 year. OptimusSteel will have to chime in why else the Magic perhaps want 1 year deals only, if they get another 1-2 FA’s like this, 1 year only.

Beautiful. A great player for Jase to learn from. Suggs and AB too for that matter. Plus, Suggs or AB will be able to take on any defensive shortcomings Tyus has. Great signing.
