The last time I moved I hired movers through U-Haul but I didn't have to pay anything until after the move. U-Haul provided me with a code that I entered into the system when it was done and that released the payment to the 2 guys. Their quote was quite a bit cheaper than the next lowest but they showed up and did a good job. I had to rent the truck separately and I had to drive it. It was only about 10 miles, not too bad. Movers are always a gamble.

I'm moving to Milwaukee in a couple months after nearly 20 years living elsewhere, and we're in the process of going through moving companies. I've had pretty good luck with local moving companies in Madison - they've shown up on time, wrapped up the furniture, disassembled and reassembled what they needed to, etc. But holy hell, they're not cheap - the cheapest quote I've received so far is about $200 an hour for a move from the Madison area to Milwaukee. That's almost 50% more then I paid the last time I moved about three years ago. I'm going to try to save some money by moving whatever I can on my own and leaving them to handle the big things.

I just did the Madison to Milwaukee move back as well. Good luck man.

Just did Madison to Milwaukee in November with a 4 bedroom house worth of crap and kids toys. Mad City Movers was cheapest and did great.

We are putting an addition above our garage and moving our master bedroom from the first floor next to the living room to above the garage. Converting the existing master bedroom in a one larger living room that's more open to the kitchen and turning the existing master bath into a pantry off the kitchen. Also redoing the entire exterior for siding, soffit, fascia, gutters. My PODS unit showed up this morning 16x8x8. I have to completely empty out the garage by July 9th when they are starting. First time I've used PODS they quoted $309 for 3 months which seemed pretty reasonable to me. First time doing any major addition/remodel work for us, I gave up on trying to move after monitoring listings for about 3 years. I hope to solve everything I don't really like about my current house with this and stay here for decades. But I'm sure it's going to be a miserable 3-4 months with lots of surprises.

Saw Dirty Heads at Red Rocks last night. Unreal venue.

Sitting in a coffee shop getting breakfast in DT Denver and all the sudden one of the lead singers walks in. Said his name and chatted with him for a bit and showed him my tats of the band. Unreal moment.

Moving sucks. 10 blocks, 10 states, doesn't matter. Hope you settle in ok and the neighbors prove to not be too bothersome.

Made a banger of a meal tonight - chicken braised in a tomato sauce with capers and olives (my add). After the chicken was done, I reduced the sauce which intensified the sourness from the vinegar and capers, and it was balanced incredibly well with taragon (which stands up beautifully to acid). Served over pasta. 40 minutes get up off the couch-to-eating. Adding this to regular rotation.

NYT lets you share unlimited recipes now, so go wild.

I just want to share this wonderful breakfast I've been having recently, now that we're in the midst of tomato season.

Cut two-three ripe tomatoes in half, and grate the pulp from center to skin, discarding the skins.
Add salt.
Add lemon zest.

Give it a quick mix and let it sit for about 20-30 minutes.

Strain out all the water that has separated from the tomato pulp.

With the remaining tomato pulp, add a drizzle of olive oil.

Scoop that delicious tomato mixture onto a piece of toast.

Enjoy.

Hell yeah, I love this. This is basically pan con tomate, a Catalan dish, and it's absolutely outstanding. My partner has spent a lot of time in Spain and this is one of their favorite recipes still. Lemon zest is a great add - we'll try that.

I actually love helping people move (move, not pack). Its a day of hanging with the guys, drinking beers while the guy and sig other are freaking out/overwhelmed, and getting into low impact cardio. Have the time is in the truck driving between places. Hope you had some good quality time with the fam.

Thing I never knew I was missing in my life until I got it: ceiling fans. I always have fans running, even at work. At some point I think my body just got used to always having air being blown around me. But man, even more than the central air, goddamn having ceiling fans in every room absolutely rules.

Have never once watched a food eating competition. Could not think of something I'd ever want to watch less.

Im not a huge 4th of July person, but I spent the last two years in the western UP and they go pretty hard in the paint for 4th of July. Wakefields Fireworks are elite for a town with like 2000 people or something. Bessemer is pretty good also.

The Diogo Jota and Andre Silva tragedy has been hitting me hard these last couple days. I was a big fan of Diogo and I cannot believe that he and his brother have been taken away from the world at such a young age. Diogo got married a little over a week ago. He left behind three small children. Just horrifying.

Glad the Gold Cup is over so I don’t have to watch this group anymore, specifically Agyemang.
