I don't know much about Brown but something about his personality always seemed a little grating. I might be off on that but after years of Thibs I was hoping they would bring in a coach that creates a little bit more of an enjoyable experience. I'm not looking for a pushover but I want the players to want to play and compete for the coach.

Mike brown hasn’t gotten out the first round without Bron. Ima have to pass.

Hey I said he wasn’t my first choice either lol. All I’m sayin is we’re better off with him than Thibs, and that Thibs has a worse rep.

Ima have to disagree heavily with you there. Mike brown easily has a worse rep than thibs. If he didn’t then people would be excited for us to get him.

You’re gunna have to do better than that bro lol… I gave you a paragraph about how Thibs has a worse rep. A realgm knicks board poll with multiple candidates to choose from doesn’t hold any weight in the reputation department.

We are better off with Thibs and 6 vacant roster spots than Brown.

Go look on Knicks Twitter. Nobody really wants Mike brown and would rather keeps thibs if Brown is going to be his replacement. I’m not sure what else to tell you. You’re in a small minority that would rather have Mike brown fam

The biggest thing to me is this coaching search took to damn long. They should have had this wrapped up before today but they wanted Kidd.

Small minority? Gimme the total count lol

Nobody that has an issue with Brown here has given any substantive explanation as to why. I’m not his advocate by any means, but I’m not reading any legitimate reasons.

Thibs on the other hand has a laundry list of issues that have been listed ad nauseam. The FO fired him for a reason. Players spoke out against him for a reason. We went thru the worst loss in our history because of him. List goes on and on and on..

I’m honestly good with anybody but Thibs, I got what I wanted

 Explain

Thibs and his 8 man rotation with 2 2-way players for desperate times, despite some games that we would have to forfeit due to too few players or playing entire games of 4 v 5, would probably finish with a better record than Mike Brown and the same team plus 5 dudes in the Jordan Clarkson tier.

Thibs has had more success in the modern nba than Mike brown has. Mike brown hates defense. He refused to play Keon Ellis and let him rot on the bench which kings fans hated. The kings offense went down the drain when brown’s assistant left for the nets. There’s just not much to be excited about, no matter how much you hate thibs.

Disconcerting having no coach as free agency begins. Knicks were not well prepared for this.

Modern NBA? Considering Brown has only coached 2.5 seasons in like the past 10 years that’s not saying much. Also, Brown is known for his defense… his personnel just can’t deliver. As far as Ellis goes, he played him 20 mpg this season… he got bumped up 7 mpg more after Brown left. Hardly letting him rot on the bench by comparison.

I’m not saying to get excited about him, I’m just saying that:

1: Thibs has a far worse reputation around the league
2: Any of these current candidates are an improvement
3: Brown doesn’t have anywhere near as bad a coaching resume as you’re saying

But again, he’s not my first or second choice, but considering he’s done about as good as one can do with what he’s had to work with, along with working under great coaches like Pop, Kerr, and Carlisle, I wouldn’t mind giving him a chance. Especially if they hire another top candidate as an associate head coach next to him.

Whoever we get, once people realize just how much Thibs was standing in the way of our guys reaching their full potential, there will be plenty to be excited about.

like baseball is moving to now...its going to be a collaborative effort. The HC is basically going to get lineup suggestions from the FO so the FO will have way more say on lineups/rotations ect then it did before when it was a thibs way or highway type situation.

Right or wrong they are going with this approach so having the coach in hand right now isn't a necessity as long as they pick the right one.

Thibs is probably better but not that much better. I would have stayed with Thibs another year if this is who they decide to hire but not all is lost. Maybe he will be a better fit.

In my eyes we can't compare if we would have kept Thibs anymore. From multiple sources a majority of the players were done with him. You can't go into a season where you are one of the favorites to make it to the finals and have so much uncertainty/tuning out and players not buying in anymore to what Thibs was selling.

Absolutely agreed. It's not like there were any coaches out there that jump out that were better. I was more shocked bc I think he deserved another year at least. I feel like the options out there are lateral at best but probably a step down which makes the firing more odd.
