Cavs spending more on Merrill than Jerome is idiotic

Wish the Magic could have pulled this off. $9 mil AAV is amazing for what he showed last season.

I really thought he'd get more. Great changeup pitch when Ja goes to the bench.

Sam became a Kenny favorite.

Once they drafted Proctor and traded for Ball, we all knew he was gone.

I know this. But it’s still a bad move. Ball can’t stay healthy. And he won’t be healthy. Never has been never will be. Jerome was a 6th man of the year candidate that could play either guard position because of his height. Now they have nothing at backup if/when ball goes down. Expect porter jr who is still an uncertainty.

You can attack Jerome on Defense. He helps the Cavs in the regular season but is useless in the playoffs

9 mil (and change) for Jerome is a pretty good deal. He was set to get a lot, lot more after the Heat series. Probably more than double than that. Poor guy lost so much money in the second round.

Good deal! Not sure why at this price, the Cavs choose to keep Merrill over him

Cavs waived Okeke so maybe they can sign a vet PG, as insurance.

Basically, they traded a wing (Okoro) for a point guard (Lonzo Ball) and drafted another point guard (Tyrese Proctor). So, it made more sense to keep a wing shooter (Merrill) than another point guard (Ty Jerome).

I would also say that Merrill was more playable than Jerome was in this year's second round series. I don't think that Jerome is as bad as he looked during that series (or as good as he looked in the Heat series) but it's possible that the Cavs value Merrill's consistency and effort more than they value Jerome's scoring ability.

As a Grizz fan, I love this deal. As some have said, he was in the running for 6th man of the year and even had a good playoff series. He will definitely contribute for us.
Dudes that barely got minutes last year are signing for slightly less.
Love it

Dude talked all that **** after that game against Miami where he cooked Herro and proceeded to get embarrassed by the Pacers. Hopefully, that humbles him. Memphis needs him to be good off the bench next to Pippen.

No he wasn’t useless, he was however asked to do more with the injuries and was overexposed. He is wonderful in his role

I think this is probably a fair deal. I was never a fan of the MLE rumors with the Cavs. If you’re trying to be a contender you shouldn’t be tying up MLE money on a guy who gets cooked in the playoffs.

This deal is just small enough that when he becomes unplayable in the playoffs it doesn’t really hurt you.

Nickeil Alexander-Walker is worth more than him?

He has a horrible body type. Negative wingspan and narrow shoulders.
