I want only one Spur on the Nets roster , we gotta find a way to trade for Jeremy Sochan , it’s not like you need him anyways

Fortunately for them they learned from their mistakes post Kawhi and prioritized picks over staying fully a treadmill team. But this moves wreaks of their old ways. Since Kawhi trade, this has not been a good front office on the overall balance of things IMO.

McDermott made nearly 12% of the cap on his Spurs deal. Kornet will make 6%. This deal is significantly cheaper than the McDermott or Collins deals they handed out.

We don't need a rangy 1-4 guarding DGAF menace? Sure we do.

Celtics right now are $2,046,821 below the 2nd apron with 14 players signed right now. They can sign a rookie for the 15th spot if they want, but even a minimum deal for a player with 1 year of experience or more would take them back over the 2nd apron. It doesn't make sense for them to incur those basketball penalties for a Tatum-less year.

If Tatum were healthy, they'd probably be more aggressive moving Simons/Niang and possibly Hauser for either salary room to keep Kornet and/or Horford or just for better front court players in the deal. But those are negatively valued contracts so it'd take draft assets to do so. For a Tatum-less season, it simply doesn't make sense for them to spend their future draft capital to re-balance their roster. They'll save that future draft capital for the years Tatum is back. So in the meantime, they'll deal with the worst center rotation in the NBA.

Next year, with Simons/Niang expiring, they're well under the tax line so they get their flexibility back.

No reason to pay over 300 million in taxes if you have no chance to win title. It is that simple.

It’s a combo of all those things… they have no reason to keep him at a price that will be significantly higher than any other team.

I am a spurs guy and am very meh at the contract, just imagine having to pay additional money for being over the 1st apron and close to 2nd.

It isn’t string theory. The Celtics bloated payroll is the reason why he left along with Tatum injury which detrailed their plans for next year.

I get all that , but I doubt Simons and especially Niang is in their future plans , I rather have resigned Kornet for continuity post Tatum injury

The Spurs FO is washed imo. Can anyone point to some good moves or draft picks from the past decade?

Wemby is a no brainer lmao.

It's easy after a player is traded to talk bad about him. He can't do this, or we won't miss that... but with Kornet, that won't happen. He was not only a fan favorite, but was an amazing locker-room presence as well (from all reports). He was also so good at doing what he was supposed to do. No, he wont' ever be the guy with the huge numbers that leads your team, but he will be the ultimate professional who gives all he has to be the best he can. SA is going to love having him. As a Celtics' fan I am really bummed that he is gone. Best of luck Green Kornet!!!!

- They stole Fox for a very modest cost
- Got CP3 as a FA to mentor their young core
- Drafted Sochan who is among the best defenders in the league
- Drafted Wemby
- Drafted Harper
- Drafted Castle
- Drafted Bryant
- Drafted Vassell and signed him to a very friendly extension
- Traded Murray to the Hawks for a great return
- Traded the corpse of Thad Young to Toronto for a 1st round pick
- Traded Yak to Toronto for the #8 pick
- Amassed attractive future picks like 2028 1st swap with Boston, 2026 1st swap with ATL, 2027 Atlanta 1st, 2030 1st swap with Dallas/Minny, 2031 1st swap with Sacramento.

That's hardly washed
