Imagine trading a future first for essentially the same player. still no answer for Caruso.

Brooklyn took advantage of an old desperate woman here. Great return. They would have never gotten a first back for Cam anywhere else.

Player-wise this ia a downgrade for Denver but they shaved so much money and now also have Trade exception, its a solid deal.
Nuggets will need to find away to improve defensive rebounding since they were bad at it and MPJ was solid on the boards.
I hope Johnson can improve his shape and stay healthy. If he does that its a win for Denver.

Nuggets win on the court and in cap space. MPJ just isn't consistent and he's overpaid.

I don’t think it is downgrade in talent all.

On a vet minimum plus have almost the full TPMLE and under first apron which means they can use the 17 million trade excemption. They gained a **** ton of flexibility

I believe they still have their MLE to offer as well. Cam, Brown and then one more piece. Very impressive.

Nah, Brown signed for the minimum, but they opened up the ability to sign another player for the MLE later on.

How is this a downgrade? Cam Johnson can actually dribble and pass, and he's just as good of a shooter.

Health is a legitimate concern with Cam, but on the court he's a clear upgrade over MPJ.

Porter is a better rebounder, but other than that I think Cam’s better at every single skill there is on a basketball court. Better scorer, better passer, better defender. Probably gonna even look like a better shooter with Jokic throwing him passes.

Will be interesting to see how MPj does without Jokic and how Cam does with him. Last year MPJ had 53TS% with Jokic on the bench, 65 with him on the floor. Huge difference and that's been the trend his whole career

MPJ has some hot shooting games but he’s just so incredibly one dimensional. It’s like paying 50 million for a Sam Hauser/Sam Merrill type who MPJ is only marginally better than at best.

Sad though that MPJ last games with Denver was a shell of himself because of that injury. His ability to shoot over anyone was always a beauty to watch.

Is Porter a better rebounder or does he just get a lot of rebounds cause two guys are boxing out Jokic? His lack of motor and awareness pops out for someone who gets a lot of rebounds.

They dropped about $17m in the exchange and got the better defender. Porter was a better rebounder but can be targetted on defense. Cam isnt a target. Ill take that added cap flexability and a change of scenery.

Add Mo Wagner or Al Horford along with Bruce Brown and the Nugs might jump into championship favorites.

MPJ is nothing without Jokic. Denver got great value for these next few years of Jokic’s prime. I’m not high on Cam like most are but MPJ is addition by subtraction. Cam will benefit from Jokic too and do everything MPJ can do except rebound. Which the Nuggets not hurting for. They opened up the non tax payer MLE and signed Bruce Brown for the minimum. They can combine salaries as well now. They won.

Basically a wash trade

Cam Johnson has significantly less injury risk IMO, and is slightly more reliable on defense. Porter is more capable of handling the ball and creating his own shot.

You've got things backwards, or you don't watch Porter Jr.
He cannot dribble nor create an open shot for himself. Cam is better at both of those things.

Cam is also more injury prone than MPJ during regular seasons.
