Why? I dont get the Randle hate. Especially for Myles Turner. Turner is very overrated. He just sucked it up in the ECF and Finals or Indy might be the champs. He cost himself a big contract.

Randle played great for us!
I'm just saying:
(PG?) return from Randle/DDV + Turner
Way better than
Randle and DDV. and I like both a lot. Just trimming the fat.
I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy.

How is that hate? I'd do that in a heartbeat. Turner is a decent player. Indiana would hang up the phone as they don't want two guys who don't play defense.

Realistic point guard options have evaporated. Lonzo Ball-gone for a bad player, Tre Jones, signed for about 8M, Tyus signed for 7M. I don' t like the options left and would just as soon take a hail mary with Ben Simmons. At least he has upside and if we sign him at close to minimum the downside is negligible. Why are the Wolves paying Ingles to cheerlead for 3.6M? Give that money to Ben Simmons, maybe Ant's enthusiasm is contagious and he reverts a bit. At least he has size to defend and can pass. He may not have range, but neither does Rudy and he can play during non-Rudy minutes.

I like Jose but am unsure how he helps in this situation. If we are keeping Dilly (I presume we are,) and Mike is okay playing 3rd string (best for everyone,) then we need a starting PG. Jose is a great backup, but not a legit starter. I still wonder if we are trading Randle.

Edit to fix. I confused Clarkson with Collins in my head. Collins is not getting bought out, Clarkson is, and he is heading to NYK on a minimum.

He plays defense. He could be a long term complement to Dilly.

This might be true. Remember I am the Jose, Jose, Jose video guy. That said, Dilly is about as ready as I am to be the starting PG for the Timberwolves. I am not even sure he can play 25 minutes and not sink our ship. Having Jose would be great if we had a starting PG and traded Dilly. But, as it stands it looks like we plan to start 38 year old Mike (a mistake,) and back him up with Dilly (a problem given Mike’s minute limit,) and use DDV as the 3rd guy to limit Dilly when he sucks. This is the same poor roster construction that eliminated us last year, and likely will again. It all ties back to the Dlo for Conley trade, and losing the salary slot that Dlo provided. TC loves compounding his errors, and seemingly will continue to do so.

Turner cant create his own shot, and is a bad rebounder. Randle is extremely underrated around here.

Randle is…

1. Inconsistent from deep. When he is making them it forces defenses to adjust and creates opportunities for his teammates. When he is not, Randle becomes a lot less threatening offensively and defenses can load up even more on Ant and the paint.

2. Sloppy with the ball. While he can play Point Forward, Randle loves to play back to the basket and get stripped. He is also not great at passing to Rudy or Jaden on the interior. The key word is inconsistent.

3. In the way of Naz. He and Naz don’t play as well together as Rudy and Randle or Rudy and Naz. They don’t defend well together either. Naz being allowed to play less C (if Joan can get consistent 14-15 minutes per game,) will allow Naz to play more SF/PF which will be great for Naz, but will also limit Randle more than last year.

4. Maybe going to be traded. Depending on the money, we retain trade eligibility without waiting 6 months. Randle locked up on a 3/100 might be moveable, and might get us the roster balance we so desperately seek.

I'd be down for Brogdon, Deanthony Melton for PGs

Larry Nance Jr or Yabusele as a backup Cs

Somehow trading for Monk (he always seems to torch us)

Maybe once FA starts drying up, guys will look for opportunity to get minutes and we still have PG and C minutes available

Instead of these crumbs that will not move the needle at all trade Randle&DDV or Rudy&DDV (plus picks if necessary) for a Big and PG..
Possibly even Naz&DDV.

He also got 7M.

We couldn’t match that.

Actually, we had 7M to match it. I hope he went to Orlando because Wolves has better options. He would have the starting job with Wolves.

We did not.

And even if we did, it would put us over the 2nd apron.

For Tyus Jones…

According to Caplogy thread, the 12 players salary is 197987429, 2nd Apron is 207824100. Could we had sign Jones to 7M first, than sign Naz, Randle, Ingles. Basically dip below Cap, sign free agent and resign our own players? Or we just worry Randle/Naz pull a Carlos Boozer?

Are you accounting for Randle and Naz’s cap holds?

This, plus we were already over the actual cap before you factor in either player. To offer a contract above the Tax Payer MLE you must hard cap yourself at the first apron. We are exceeding the first apron and stopping just shy of the 2nd apron. Therefore, there was never any way to pay Tyis more than the TPMLE which is more than a million less than the magic offered him.

Ingles is making the vet minimum, we only had 12 guys rostered before this signing

Gotta fill the roster somehow, why not the widely beloved vet that already has chemistry with the players and coaching staff? He's a perfect end of bench guy

But why would Indy want to pair Randle with Siakim?

Is Turner a FA? I was thinking trade Randle and sign Turner. But I'm sure he stays in Indy...

I'm pretty skeptical Randle has much value around the league and I don't see anyone wanting Randle's contract. Insane that Timmy bids against himself. I'd trade Randle for a highly protected second round pick and consider it a win.

You very much underrate Randle and you very much overrate his contract. 33 Million a year for a guy who puts up the numbers he does is a tradable contract if we wanted to trade him. Letting him walk when we couldn't replace him would have been a huge outflux of talent with nothing or very little coming back.

Randle is a star player and many of us here act like he's a total bum. I don't get it.

I wonder how the Wolves may be able to find a solid insurance PG (if Rob doesn't develop as anticipated and/or if Conley falls off or both) using the trade exception. I am interested in Brogden. I am also interested in Tre Jones for the Bulls depending on which they go. I like Yabusele as well to add into our big rotation.

It does feel like adding Yabusele blocks the whole Shannon/Clark/Rob getting minutes in some form. But he's just a good player and I'd rather have him playing backup C than Naz.

+/- loves Mike. He's not as washed up as you think he is. For whatever reason we win the minutes he is on the court. A Mike Dilly split or 28 Dilly 20 Mike this year might be just fine.

Turner is a notch below Randle IMO. No offensive game at all outside of an OK 3 point shot. His better D is more than offset by Randle's better O.
