Re: Fisher: Raptors are still shopping RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley
Kinda funny how some people have went from being somewhat optimistic about the roster for next year to now becoming extremely pessimistic after Masai being let go and some RJ/IQ being shopped rumours that have not come to fruition popped up when really little has changed on our outlook for next season.

Losing Masai, Not being able to upgrade the roster in any sort of way....While teams in our conference are improving each passing day.....Makes it hard to get excited about next season....It will be fun to see how CMB does and Ingram addition...But i don't think it will translate to our record being drastically better ....We will see if we get anything in a trade...
For us to leapfrog some of these teams in the East i think we would need to get a impact player on a decent trade. Like a Sabonis level guy without trading much out.

every season, many teams expected to be better on paper end up falling short for a variety of reasons. there are also teams that surprise and have a good season then drop back down the following year.
we are 4 months away from next season. let's see how it plays out.

What teams are getting better? Magic and Hawks have gotten better. Bucks, Celtics and Pacers have gotten worse. Sixers aren’t looking too good.
You don’t think adding Ingram to a team that desperately tried to lose and yet still won 30 games won’t improve drastically?

Yeah just i don't think the addition of Ingram/rookie CMB is enough to add to make the current team we have take a big step next year....We will be better no doubt....But i don't see 20+ wins better....Maybe 10 or 11 if all things go well and that would put us at around +500 team and either a play in or 8th seed....
We need a good addition to the team to be in the mix with the teams 1-6 in the East next year IMO.

Of course the Raptors will improve... its just whether raptors will improve to win around 38 to 42 games and be the new Chicago/Washington/Atlanta/Miami or be good enough to be the next Detroit/Indiana.
No one wants this team to become mid where they're not good enough to be a serious playoff team and not bad enough to get a high draft pick.

Ingram has been notoriously unhealthy in his career....It will not drastically improve the team....Drastic would need to be another all star level player added to the team we have now without losing anyone....We marginally improved at best...
Pistons/Hawks/Magic/Knicks/Cavs Are all better than us next year imo....76ers would be worlds better than us if they have health on their side so that is TBD....
As for Pacers/Celtics/Bucks They will take a step back but they will still be competitive and could beat us during the reg season games....Also the teams we will need to get wins over to have a good record next year are not as "Easy" wins anymore like the Wizards, Hornets, Bulls are also not auto wins...
It will be tougher than you think it will be...Considering our rosters injury history as well....
I can see a world where all things click and we end up 6th seed....But i can also see a world where all things go bad and we end up in the lottery again.

on average, 6th seed in the east is between 45-47 wins. 10th seed is around 38-41 wins.
our talent level is higher next season
we will also try to win from day one
i don't see that big a talent difference between many of the teams hoping for playoffs.
in most cases, it will come down to health and chemistry. if we get that then mid 40's wins is on the table.
i'm just excited to see us finally try to win and i'm ok with wherever the chips fall.

rare to go from 0 to 100. indy was 6th seed a season ago. no playoffs the season before. just have to get good first.

Chicago? Washington? Those teams stink. If we are in that tier then it was a very disappointing season unless those teams shock everyone.
We have Walter, Gradey, Scottie, Shead, CMB, Ochai. All these guys are young. It’s not like we are rolling out a team in their mid 30s. We have all our picks. Move can always be made.
Also, would not be surprised if Detroit takes a step back. Are they that much better than us on paper? Let’s be honest here. lol.
I’d like RJ moved for a player that fits better onto our club. That’s the move to try and make.

Teams aren’t taking on extra years unless it’s a significant upgrade or they’re incentivized to do so. The apron rules and CBA is too restrictive. Portland decided to cut Ayton because they couldn't find a trade where anyone was willing to give up expiring contracts even though Ayton himself is expiring.

I agree, I have 0 expectations to actually win a round. I just want to see us make the playoffs and be super competitive in the 1st round, similar to the Pistons this year and when Raptors lost to Brooklyn in 2014.

We're not top 6 but probably a Play-In team with the 7th or 8th seed. We should win 40ish games next year.

my marker will be drtg. if we can somehow be the 7-10th best defense, then a middle of the pack offense can get you to 45 wins.

If we have reasonable health and are only 10 wins better, things likely went pretty bad and the future outlook isn't good at all. This was a 30 win team while intentionally losing games for the last 1/4 of the season and getting decimated by injuries through the first half of the year while playing the toughest schedule in the league. If we had reasonable health and tried to win all our games even without Ingram, we probably would have been in the mid to high 30's in wins. 40 wins would basically be little if any improvement over that and pretty disappointing.

Yeah i could see 76ers being better next year, Pacers as well will not be totally bad they have a deep roster even with Hali out....Celtics could be bad with all their bigs gone.....Bulls/Wiz/Hornets could all improve...We are in a weird mix for sure...
Only thing that worries me we are an Ingram/Yak injury away from being a 30 win team again next year.

Ingram is good but idk if he and CMB alone would make us a 15-20+ More win team....Also got to factor in at the end of the year there were about 10-13 teams litearlly all tanking as well for Flagg....So them wins we racked up against them other teams also tanking means really nothing....
Imo could go either way and i won't be shocked....If we are in the lottery next year again because of bad luck/injuries i won't be shocked, If we are the 6th seed i won't be shocked...
