Tore his ACL December 4th of last year, should be ready by the start of the season but still risky.

Orlando would have Suggs/Melton/Isaac/Wagner all with severe knee injury history.

Very risky and this is why he should be very cheap

I would prefer not to roll the dice on a key role. Let’s avoid him.

With Paulo Banchero suffering from depression and a new guaranteed 250 mil extension it’s more important than ever to keep Mo Wagner on the team to keep his spirits up

That’s my opinion he needs Suggs and MoW around to realize his mental ceiling

Unless you're a psychologist, I wouldn't throw that opinion out there. Depression is a real diagnosis.

Stick to your day job bud.

These guys make 40-50 million a year, pay no state taxes, and play basketball for a living.

You really shouldn't say Paolo is in any type of emotional state, especially depression unless it's directly quoted from his mouth. (which would not be common)

The most you could assume is he is frustrated not having a lead guard based on his comments and wants to handle the ball less.

And because of that, we just brought in a guy who an handle the ball and is a sniper, leveraging our future in the draft for a few years because we are in belief we can contend with our current core.

Do you know something that we don’t but covering it up by saying it’s your opinion?

I know he talked about how the injury was weighing on him during his andscape video diaries but I just took it to mean that the monotony of the injury process probably tuned him out. He seemed like he’s gotten so much better after the all star break physically and mentally-he was making uncharacteristic mistakes like the away game in Miami-. So hopefully he’s in good spirits to sign an extension with us.

That's almost 26 million for matching salaries purposes. If that pipe dream happened would we be hard capped and no longer able to offer mo anything he'd accept? Or no longer able to add a Dinwiddie or Westbrook at vet minimum to go for a Ring?

Well: step 1 is now on the books.

This now means the Magic has about 14M this year to sign 2 or 3 players. The Tyus Jones rumors seem just that to me. Unless he would accept a 7-8M deal, I cannot see the Magic going for this. The full MLE cannot be used for Orlando to stay below the 1st apron.

The abosolute max the Magic can offer is ~13M, where the 14th player would be an undrafted rookie at 840,000.

And that is not includeing the unlikely bonuses on Bane's deal, whci I think effect this monetatrily.

...

As of now I am hoping the Magic resign M-Wagner on a 3-year 21 deal (7/7/team-option-7). And that leaves 6M to find a high-minutes guard.

Lot's of good options at the 5M range. I am thinking Ty Jerome, Nickeil Alexander-Walker, or maybe even Caris LeVert - if available. Chris Paul is always an option here.

If Jones would sign for 5M, this would be a massive upgrade of what effectively was Houstan's roster slot. COnceptually we can thinki of it a "new Anthony".

I'm a fan of Tyus but we really could use a SERIOUS scoring threat off the bench...right now, Jase is probably the biggest scoring threat (with Moe out)

...and that's not good. Levert is pretty intriguing. I do keep coming back to a real PG though - someone who can handle vs pressure when other teams try to attack our glaring weakness.

I’m so confused by this comment. I think Cole was his best friend on the team, what is with the idea that Mo is what keeps him going? If anything, I would think it’s Franz that would be bummed that Mo is not on the team. I haven’t really seen Paolo and Mo interact all that much. And this is a business, they all have to learn the possibility that their friend might not be on the teams they play for.

There has been one MAJOR negative news for Magic and many other teams.
Salary cap for 2026-27 won't grow expected 10% but just 7%. Witch means that projected cap for 26-27 will be $165 M, luxury tax at around $200M, First apron at $209M and second apron at around $222M

Ouch!

The Magic is already certain to be over the 1st apron next year. It will be TIGHT to stay below the second.

But this is only a two-year thing. From 2027/28 the Magic's roster becomes "affordable" again given Suggs declining contract structure, Isaac coming off the books, and what is assumed to then be a 10% bump in the cap.

To pepe: why only 7%? The tv deal is certain league income and I thought smoothing "guaranteed" the 10% bumps.
