This CBA seems to be bad business for mid-tier players

The league is still working its way through contracts like Lavine at $47m and MPJ at $40m. Once these start expiring there will be more money for mid-tier guys.

It all boils down to fact that new CBA will force nba teams into stop maxing out every ( above ) average mediocrity they draft. It should also prevent them from overvaluing own draft haul.

You simply can't have situation where somebody like Lavine, Wiggins or Michael Porter jr. are being maxed out.

How bloated salaries of some players still are, entering 25-26 season you have:
- Lavine $48M
- Lauri Markannen $46M
- Porter $38M
- Lamelo Ball $38M
- Jalen Green $33M
- Quickley $32,5M
- Dejounte Murray $31M
- Porzingis $31M

It's just laughable how some of them make 25% of cap and they aren't even top 30 players. Impact vise, some of them aren't even positive value on court. Just high usage chuckers playing for stats.

Every nba team has at least 1 player on flat out silly contract that player has no business having. Once that levels up, there will be more money for middle players.
I hope we are exiting era of Terry Rozier, John Collins and Tobias Harris type players making near $30M a year.... for sake of quality of a league.

Sorry mediocre players aren't getting overpaid. However, the luxury tax is 33 million higher than the cap this coming season. If you're not getting paid, it's probably because you don't deserve to.

Looks to me like pretend stars are getting de-valued. Superstars are still underpaid. And mid-tier are starting to get properly valued.

Like D'Angelo Russell making less than Ty Jerome now.

The aprons are going to reward well-rounded teams.

I beg to differ. Devin Booker is set to sign a record 75M per year extension soon so teams that had home grown stars still feel the need to supermax their players.

I think the CBA rewards the all star players because teams are still throwing max money at them and the role players are getting shafted with lower salaries as no one wants to go over the 2nd apron.

Obviously the answer would be to reserve the super max contracts to superstars but for a small market team they may feel like they need to overpay to put seats in the arenas.

With all the discussions about the importance of depth, after the last playoffs, do we really need to read this?
They are fine as long as they are worth their contract.
