Or probably just tired . The video maybe is showing Kasp at the end of a drill instead of beginning ?

CMB looks tired as well but looks like he is able to keep his composure. But he grin at some point .

This is a drill they’re doing after a 90 minute intensive workout session for context.

Probably showing the difference between American development vs European.

American focus on individual skill development.
Euro development is on team play.

I don’t even know how to comp CMB. Not explosive, can’t shoot, elite at getting to the rim with a live dribble, great face up game and is a tier 1 defensive player. Also has incredible body control.

What is even that? What does that look like in the NBA.

Danny Fortson/grant Williams

Ha neither of those guys could dribble or defend that well.

It’s just funny because that was his comp on nbadraft.net. Also Hansen yangs comp on there was wang zhizhi. They couldn’t think of anyone else? It had to be another Chinese player…

Scottie exceeded expectations in his rookie year. CMB might actually be better than Scottie coming out of college. That is what makes me excited. Scottie is a better passer but CMB seems to be the better ball handler, a bit more fluid, and a better scorer.

Scottie’s future as a raptor likely depends on CMB developing a 3pt shot

I know every year someone gets compared to Draymond. But his game looks like Draymond's. Measurements too.

I looked a little more into the downside NBA comps that CMB got and most were terrible, the only close one statistically was Grant Williams.
Similar height, Grant put up a slightly higher BPM of 12.1. He was a junior, but only 6.5 months older than CMB.
He actually scored at a slightly higher TS% on similar usage, but lower 2pt% thanks to being a much better free throw shooter and getting to the line a little more frequently.

Where CMB has the advantage is he has better length (3.75 inch wingspan, 2 inch standing reach), was MUCH quicker in shuttle and sprint times and had a 3 inch better vertical. He also rebounded quite a bit better, got more stocks. SEC was the 4th best conference when Grant was their per Bref, not the best in history so competition was significantly higher and Grant Williams wasn't even considered the best forward on the team entering the year as Admiral Schofield was a year older and deemed better at the beginning.
That Tennessee team was pretty stacked in general and could have easily been a #1 seed so while Grant was their best player I'm sure he wasn't facing anywhere close to the same defensive attention that CMB was and often wasn't even facing the other team's best defender especially early in the year.

So while similarish prospects I think CMB is clearly a superior version on both ends of the floor + rebounding and athleticism.

He was unguardable by any one player in college last year, Broome and Newell were hopeless, and he even got the better of Condon (best mobile defensive 6'9+ big in college last year imo). I see SL teams not doubling him right away like they should and him scoring with ease. I also see the Raptors not giving him a 25+% usage and tons of minutes since that's not really the point of summer league.

We need CMB to become the next Charles Barkley to really establish ourselves as a contender again in the NBA.

I wont lie the size and the lack of shooting got me worried but he was the BPA so this makes it very interesting. I'll be watching the summer leagues closely.

So sad Masai won't be there but I haven't been this excited about a Raptors season for a long time. Probably heading into 07-08, coming off a season winning the division and making it to the playoffs after a long 5-6 years

2018-19 season didn’t get excited with the Kawhi acquisition?

Truth to be told having Kawhi was cool but I was kind of numb from all those playoff exits, superteams, Lebronto and the Warriors always winning.

The way he scores and his height, bulk and length remind me of Corliss Williamson... The exciting part is that he projects to be better passer, rebounder and defender than Corliss. Anthony Mason is a good comp because of their all around, two way games and similar body types and measurements, but scoring wise, Corliss and him are really close.
