Then trade for Richards.
My man Richards is terrible lol
Y'all trying to win with Luka or what?
Ayton and Richards both are bad options.

Nah. That's a great combo for the Lakers. Let them cook.JustBuzzin wrote:LakersSoul wrote:Waiting for Wednesday and Aytonbyo clear waivers and sign with Lakers.

Richards as our 2nd or 3rd backup, not a bad deal.
Ayton, we will take the risk at part of MLE.

"Yes"
Snoozefest? IMO Pacers were the most exciting team to watch out of all the teams.

JustLucky wrote:why are expiring contracts from playable players getting bought out. Maybe he gave up alot?
Players get bought out at salary minus what the new team will pay, iow, the player doesnt lose money.
Ayton: Salary $35mil
Buyout: $25mil
Portland saves 10 mil
New team pays 10 mil
Its a win/win/win

Ayton averaged 18ppg on 62 TS% in his last season with CP3.
Obviously Ayton is not some great Center. People are just underrating the jump from going from Hayes (the 45th best C in the league) to Ayton (the 22nd best C in the league). That is a big upgrade, especially when Ayton wouldn’t cost them any of their assets.
Ayton over Hayes is a big upgrade. Ayton on an expiring (which actually forces him to try) is a reasonable gamble. The Lakers could do far worse.
And that's fewer points than he avaraged during his second year without CP3. His offensive game clearly improved by him getting into easy spots to score once Paul came on the team and told him where to be but the talk then was that he couldn't be arsed putting in the work on his offensive game.
His ts went up from 56.8% to 65.3% when CP got there. That was the whole point of the original quote. It was one of the most efficient plays in basketball.

In Portland the rumor is he basically gave up the vet min, so he’s gonna make that back up. Whatever his next team is (spoiler alert: The Lakers) is gonna sign him for that, so he won’t lose a dime.
Dang...hell of a deal. Surprised blazers didn't ask for more back, or have they just completely had it with him anyhow?

He gave up ~10M, not the vet min.

Not sure how true this is--these kind of hit pieces always seem to come out right after semi-controversial decisions--but for what it's worth:
Ayton was reportedly late to practices and flights, and would skip rehab appointments, throughout his tenure in Portland. The Blazers also didn't like Ayton's attitude when he was removed from games, especially when the veteran center wasn't showing the proper amount of effort.

If that's the plan, a half-season dealing with Ayton should do it.

Lakers have zero assets to get a decent center, and the league just gives them a twenty-six-year-old former starter on a finals team, lol. Bro, WTF.

Everybody on here also acting like Ayton is just trash. Center is super dependent position, especially with all the five out DHO crap that takes the ball so far away from the basket. You put him around all that gravity with Luka and Lebron, he's going to ball out there. If they end up with him, the Lakers are going to be a lot better.

Well if they want to surround Luka with good habits on and off the court they could hardly pick a worse guy.
