I told ya’ll they were looking for an associate head coach. I had hoped it would be Nori since he had experience running a double big offense, but I assume he didn’t want to leave the good thing he has going with Finch.

Same was said when we hired Thibs :dontknow:

I don’t remember anyone saying that about Thibs.. and how is he a journey man when he only coached two teams prior to the Knicks?

Melo .. the same was definitely implied although the word Journey man wasn't specifically used. He was called a failed coach and someone that nobody wanted and that's why he was out of the NBA. I know because I argued in favor of Thibs before I realized he was no longer the right coach. I've had discussions with people in this thread.. go back to when we hired him. It wasn't received that well.

Brown or Jenkins I think people will have an issue. it's just what we do lol

Nobody said Thibs was a failed coach that nobody wanted LMFAO!

Is thibs the one playing lazy defense? Do you not remember OG getting mad at KAT? Is that thibs fault? Be fr

Blaming thibs for the players choking is nasty work.

Mike Brown n Borrego duo leading us to a chip and you’ll like it. I trust they won’t allow some role player to hit six open 3pointers in the finals few mins in the ECF to rob us of a title. They’re not deers in the headlights when it comes to in game adjustments.

If Borrego is coming down as a lead assistant then maybe I’m more intrigued than just brown alone. I’ll give you that

We managed to get a worse version of Thibs after interviewing 4 guys - 2 of whom in Brown and Borrego who are journeyman retread coaches. This coaching search was an insult to our intelligence and one of the most poorly thought out initiatives I’ve ever seen from any franchise in any sport. It’s pure comedy - and you remember why this team hasn’t been relevant pre-Brunson. Because of James Dolan.

Thibs is the very definition of a retread coach.

I'm not happy at all with this approach but, Thibs being put on a pedestal as if he's one of the best coaches ever is ridiculous. He's been fired from the only two jobs he had before this. For the same reasons he was fired from this job.

So Borrego I believe runs a more ISO guard offense and the wolves ran a double big offense with more emphasis on space and cuts.

In a vacuum I would prefer Nori to Borrego but unless we hear they are both still up for the role I have to assume Stein and Begley already know Borrego is the associate HC hire.

I hope Leon and co. are doing their homework and make sure Brown and Borrego can work together cause usually the coach chooses his assistants.

This doesn't say Jenkins is out, is says Stayley is no longer under consideration. It says

she is currently not considered a finalist for the position in a race that includes Mike Brown, Taylor Jenkins and others.

While she likely won't get the head coaching position, I say bring Dawn Staley on as an assistant coach, if she's interested. She has championship pedigree that you can't ignore and players have to respect.

I would give her a shot over Mike Brown.

With that being said there’s no way she leaves her job to be an assistant here. They extended her through 2030. Yes you read that correctly, 2030

When was she interviewed? Shams said he has heard nothing about her as of yesterday. Nothing came across his desk. The last we heard about any interviews before today was that Borrego would be interviewed over the weekend. Then it was radio silence. These reporters were saying Kidd was still possible at that point. Now we have interviews with both Borrego and Staley and are bringing back Brown today for a second interview?

I'm taking every one of these reports with a half a grain of salt. League sources and executives from other teams opinions are beyond old and tired.

I could live with Brown with Jenkins or Borrego as his lead assistant. Would be an upgrade over Thibs.

Still hoping Hurley comes into the picture. Or Kidd.

Leon is just dragging this out so long that he wears out RealGM and we'll all be grateful for any coach, even his third cousin's best friend.

Brown or Jenkins as the lead with Staley as a top assistant would be pretty good...
