Seems like Jenkins out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This doesn't say Jenkins is out, is says Stayley is no longer under consideration. It says

she is currently not considered a finalist for the position in a race that includes Mike Brown, Taylor Jenkins and others.

When was she interviewed? Shams said he has heard nothing about her as of yesterday. Nothing came across his desk. The last we heard about any interviews before today was that Borrego would be interviewed over the weekend. Then it was radio silence. These reporters were saying Kidd was still possible at that point. Now we have interviews with both Borrego and Staley and are bringing back Brown today for a second interview?

I'm taking every one of these reports with a half a grain of salt. League sources and executives from other teams opinions are beyond old and tired.

I don't think we should take everything Shams says as gospel with the Knicks. He definitely has his sources, but we also know that since Leon Rose came here, things are done differently.

The FO could have touched based with her informally via zoom or something, but like Melo said, her contract with South Carolina was extended to 2030, so it's highly unlikely she would leave her post there.

It would be nice, because there's always a chance if she does really well, she becomes head coach. But given she's signed thru 2030, it's unlikely she leaves for an assistant coach position. And only younger or rebuilding teams will take a chance on an unproven (in the NBA) coach, while those who are competing for the title want someone with experience (which is why we keep hearing about Brown).

We could give her $5m per and the same 4-5 years so she's getting a raise and a coaching position in the NBA as a lead assistant which I would think is a higher position than her current gig. She may be looking for a new challenge. Indy isn't the only ones that can have a female lead assistant coach...

We managed to get a worse version of Thibs after interviewing 4 guys - 2 of whom in Brown and Borrego who are journeyman retread coaches. This coaching search was an insult to our intelligence and one of the most poorly thought out initiatives I’ve ever seen from any franchise in any sport. It’s pure comedy - and you remember why this team hasn’t been relevant pre-Brunson. Because of James Dolan.

Thibs is the very definition of a retread coach.

I'm not happy at all with this approach but, Thibs being put on a pedestal as if he's one of the best coaches ever is ridiculous. He's been fired from the only two jobs he had before this. For the same reasons he was fired from this job.

I don’t care about Thibs. I wanted him fired.

Doesn’t mean I’m going to glaze any coach we hire.
Thank you, Rick Brunson.

Rose should just hurry up and hire someone already, the Knicks fans need to transition from being miserably complaining about not having a coach to be miserably complaining about the coach hired by now. This uncertainty has them miserably complaining in too many directions, we need some focused misery to have any sort of coherent complaining, I blame Thibs.

I would give her a shot over Mike Brown.

With that being said there’s no way she leaves her job to be an assistant here. They extended her through 2030. Yes you read that correctly, 2030

2030 perfectly lines up with the WNBA expansion timeline which I could see her moving up to if she doesn’t get a head coaching job in the NBA before that

Maybe one of the more literary folks here will review all of our posts and write a manual "How to Hate your New Coach, with quotes and stats, from the foremost NBA board in America!"

Leon is just dragging this out so long that he wears out RealGM and we'll all be grateful for any coach, even his third cousin's best friend.

Not that I believe much of anything reported anymore, it is easy to speculate the worst possible scenario when it comes to this team. The Thibs firing surprised me. The rumors that Dolan was involved do not but, not for the same reasons that so called insiders are trying to run with. If he indeed just forced himself into the equation and took over exit interviews and forced the firing, it makes sense why the search has been so weird. If he didn't do that, then I question the approach and the timeline. It's hard not to believe that this was an overthrow by Dolan but, I can't believe this approach was done knowing they were gonna be looking in advance either. Ugh.

In the end, Thibs is no better than Brown IMO. People calling Brown a retread as if Thibs wasn't is funny. Thibs couldn't get a job for years in this league. What does that say about him? He's been fired from teams that were playoff caliber everywhere he has been. He did nothing different in any of those jobs. I don't regret firing him at all. I just want this over with so we can move on with the off season before it moves on without us.

It's confirmed we will get a coach who wants to use the bench. Leon put in too much effort to create this team:

Starters: Brunson, Bridges, OG, KAT, Mitch
Bench: Hart, Clarkson, Deuce, Yabusele, Kolek, Hukporti, Dadiet and
more kids: McCullers, Diawarha, NNaji,Pate?

This team has the depth needed to let the starters play harder for a shorter time. The era of 40 minutes for Hart has ended. The new coach will be someone who totally buys into this.

Kudos to Leon for still getting FA deals done while conducting this weird coaching search. I should not have doubted his ability to stay awake and multi task. Cap it off and add the feather with the final roster moves and a HC. Then it's on to SL.

Yabusele was a guy I was interested in when he was in Boston. He was the only name left on the FA list I saw this morning that I wanted. He's here. This move made me calm the hell down abor the HC and Clarkson. Leon is the man. I expect Aller to clean up any apron business as we finalize the roster. Does being capped at the apron carry the same penalty as being over the apron? That's really the only question I have concerning these moves.

Continue to relax and enjoy getting Yabu. During the summer, it's less punitive to use the TPMLE than it is during the season. We can still sign more and remain under the 2nd apron. Exact figures aren't clear, but we have at least 1 vet min and a rookie salary remaining.

I know I shouldn't really worry about the cap with Aller, just curious how it all works. Glad to hear there's room to breathe. Let the coaching search continue.

You'll be a lot less crazy from this process than many of us are. It's impossible to know what Leon is doing until he tells then to tell us.

Just pick a side now and deal with the fallout.

I don't care who we get at this point. I don't think it's a guarantee we get to the finals but, I don't want to watch another year of wondering what the other 9.5 players on the roster can do. We peaked under Thibs in January. Hopefully the next HC gets us over the hump with a few roster tweaks.

Two fold thing, seems like we are still looking to an add more vet min salary and 2 we can finally wrap this saga up (for good or bad lol)

Return to New York Knicks
