It's more of the 'devil you know is better than the devil you don't' line of thinking.

Personally, I'm good with Bobby getting promoted rather than Pelley and Rogers giving it to some yes man who doesn't know **** all about basketball. I'm not interested in a rehash to the Richard Peddie days as a fan.

Losing Masai was a punch to the gut, but at least with Bobby there's some semblance of competency.

It has to be Bobby at this point, and he's highly regarded around the league.... at least way more than the sorry list of candidates we've seen.

Getting a different president outside the organization, may as well continue to clean house

Bobby Webster might be more yes manish compared to Masai for now

You will not replace Masai, so you might as well hire the guy that he trained.

But again this is Keith Pelley we are talking about - Canadian executives arent exactly bright

I kinda want a clean slate now that I’ve sat on it.

There’s just too much baggage with Bobby.

This is the AA/Shapiro situation all over again. Raptors either promote Bobby or lose him all together because he wouldn't want to report to someone else.

There's a chance the Raptors can be pretty damn good and with 1 more big move, even a dark horse to come out of the East. Would be horrible to let our management group go in that situation.

Stupid Rogers should have let Masai finish his contract out to see the direction of the team and then make their final decision...

I agree that it feels rushed but let's be honest the owners would prefer it rushed to bring in playoff $

Stop it with the comparison of "turning the corner" Bobby to the 2nd greatest GM in Blue Jays history

Bobby should focus on this off-season first instead of pining for the top job.

Just a little history that AA wasnt that popular until the 2015 trade deadline. I am drawing comparisons that if Bobby feels hes on his way out and decides to make his 2015 deadline like moves to launch the Raptors back to relevancy, this could look stupid.

Anyways they needed to let Masai finish out his contract and then clean house or extend them accordingly. Now theyre forced to give a promotion to someone who doesnt deserve it or lose the entire staff that you just extended...

maybe this is the only way to keep Tolzman, who probably wants the GM spot with Bobby moving up.

And they mentioned they wanted a "business" guy which I don't think they saw to be anyone in the FO (including Masai)

I tend to lean this way too.

Having said that I’m sure that they underestimated the blowback, and I think this would go a long way to help ease fan concerns.

That was never going to happen, Ed’s ego is way too big for that.

Literally as soon as he got control, it was over for Masai.

my guess is that higher ups see win totals, lack of playoffs and payroll and asked "then why are we paying so much for the team".

Was Bobby responsible for the Thad Young and Poeltl trades? If that’s the case demote that man.

Promote Bobby to President and Dan to GM. Then hire a scout to replace Dan. That would be a solid way to move foward. We are still one of the best run organizations in the league. The Ingram trade was a success. Same goes for Siakam and OG.

The attachment to Barnes will likely end very soon. I could see him being shopped along with IQ and RJ for a big fish. Poeltl, Ingram, Dick, CMB, Walter, Shead and the others are a decent enough supporting cast around two good players.

If Masai's firing was just about not wanting to continue paying top dollar for league cred or rizz or whatever as has been reported then I'd like to see this rebuild through for another 1-2 seasons. There just isn't enough evidence yet to throw the baby out with the bathwater despite the overall questionable direction of the team the last few seasons.

I believe the rest of the FO was extended through 26/27. Give Bobby the Pres title on a three year deal with a modest raise. They can always cut bait on the whole thing summer of 27 if we stagnate.

This seems so obvious given they all got extensions while Masai got booted out. It seems like a big waste of time and money to go through this whole interview process especially during free agency.

Ideally they bring in a smarter GM that understands the modern NBA like Indy's Chad Buchanan. He had a short rebuild/retool while under Bobby this is just going terribly - capped out, expensive players no one wants and aiming for a play-in in the weakened East.
