It all started with the typical Porzingis injury.

Then the Olympics and lack of off-time for JT, White and Jrue. I understand it's the Olympics, but 3 of your top players all get extensions and then want to play in the summer after playing all the way into June.

Then Sam had the nagging back injury.

The team never was able to get a rhythm when he got back.

By the break I can tell the team was starting to look gassed.

Joe was going for the jugular in the regular season rather than pace them and just manage to get at least a 4 seed.

The team didn't need homecourt.

It is what it is.

Whats a "good spot" 6th in the east?

Thats **** dumb

Celtics did dumber things in the past.

Let it play out.

You have no choice because JB is walking through that door.

And Derrick White is walking through that door, fans.

Exactly the scenario anticipated when we were about to sign JB to his max. Not complaining, we got a title out of whatever Brad did past few seasons, but that’s just the reality of it. All that penny-pinching and inability to improve the bench is due to having two max/supermax players.

Yep. Which is why the CBA is horse$hit. Celtics draft back to back all-NBA players and are getting penalized for it when both are in their primes. How does that make sense?

CJ McCollum in his feels for getting $lutted out by Golden State his whole career and makes this bull CBA.

Well we can't complain about the new CBA that much. We won a title last year. Brad was smart. He made a bunch of moves like the Jrue and KP trades right before the window closed for him to be able to do so..because then we'd be a 2nd apron team and unable to aggregate salaries in a trade which is how we got Jrue, White, Brogdon, KP, etc.

Brad swooped in, made his moves and won a title. And set himself up for a 2-year title window. We may have won the 2025 title as well, with better health.

But now the new CBA is really kicking in and the goal of it is competitive balance. This is what the league wanted. We've had 7 different champions in the last 7 years. If this keeps up, we'll have 30 different champions in 30 seasons. That's what the league wants. At least we won a title last year..

And the plan is to put ourselves in position to hopefully win 1 more title with Tatum/Brown/White. Which would be great, but the odds are against it..because the league wants a different champion every year, parity and competitive balance..

Problem is they probably can’t unless they deal White or Brown. Then the clock starts on Tatum asking out. It’s a domino effect. Risky game to play because of the long term ramifications. So as long as they are consulting Tatum on this stuff and he gives his blessing they’ll be fine. If not there’s going to be problems in the future.

As constructed today they’re still a playoff team. Which means those top 3 dreams are just that, dreams. People rooting against this team next year on the board will be some nasty work.

Right. I don’t see how anyone on this board regardless of how bad they want it to happen looks at this roster as presently constructed and says they’re a bottom 3 team in the league. I don’t see how they miss the playoffs. Unless you blow it all up then risk pissing off your star player.

Going for max wins next season has a low ceiling, while dipping down for a decent draft pick for one year has a strong appeal. By 26-27 all sorts of teams will be jettisoning talent because of the CBA, and the opportunity to bounce back fast will be there.

It does feel like Christmas day as the forgotten child having no money to spend in FA and just looking to cut salary. Having to watch all the other kids play with their new toys and I'm just sitting here looking at my Luka Garza like getting a SEGA when PS5 has already come out.

But then you look around and we are STILL in a better position to succeed long-term than like 85% of the league. It's a small comfort.

Bucks have to stretch Dame. Lakers are losing DFS for nothing. Indy loses Turner. Knicks are only adding Yabs to an already flawed team (yes I know they beat us). Miami stuck in no man's land. Philly stuck with a broken Embiid.

Houston and OKC are building goliaths. Spurs are recreating their Admiral/Duncan run with Wemby and a ton of other top picks. Dallas got Flagg but lost Luka and still have Nico.

Not a lot of other shoes I'd rather be wearing than our own.

No, it's that they can't unless they pay their draft picks. If they don't have lots of FRPs to manuever, add talent, it's basically going to be impossible to rebuild for when Tatum comes back, assuming he recovers to basically 100% of his All NBA form.
This is why extending Jrue at that number was such a bad mistake.
They have extrememly limited ways to get off Simons money now.

Because of the Olympic stuff, plus we had the shortest offseason ever (played in NBA finals, then had to start out preseason early in Abu Dabi..)

This clip elaborates on why we're seeing players get hurt more..

White / Scheierman / Walsh
Murphy / Peterson / Gonzalez

Adebayo / Garza / Queta

Bam over Giannis? I like Bam but if Jaylen brown is the main piece going to the bucks then Giannis is coming to Boston

The Bucks have had a great offseason and Giannis isn't going anywhere for awhile. Dumping Lillard and acquiring the Pelicans 2026 Unprotected First are nice too.

I think it's more over usage via training rather than playing.

When LeBron finally retires, he can make another billion dollars giving a detailed insight on how to train properly.

He was never a big advocate of weight training. He is all about maintaining.

Now he is an enigma and genetic freak, but whatever he did to his body was the way to be IMO.

He averaged 71 GAMES A SEASON IN 22 YEARS !!! That's bonkers
