Love the Turner addition, hate it for Indy, but wow this whole shake up I feel makes the East even worse.

Their last Hail Mary attempt to keep Greek. But makes it hard to add around him long term.

I think what fans really hated was guys like KD/Steph and Lebron/Wade teaming up in free agency. You don't want two of the MVP caliber players teaming up, but that can still happen in the new CBA. I hate what this is doing to the game.

The new CBA didnt make indy break it up, their cheap ass owner did to avoid the tax, and woulda done the same old or new cba

Maybe - also is this gonna tempt the Suns to do the same with Brad Beal. They won't seem so crazy since the Bucks also did it

Milwaukee didn't already have salary stretched, so they had this possibility. Phoenix already stretch Nasir Little and EJ Liddell, so they'd need Beal to give up a good amount of money to be able to imitate this move.

Boston might not have those tier 1 guys, but they certainly have 2 guys paid like they are.

Yup. Straight up just ownership cost savings. Not an apron issue, or anything.

Yes that's wild but I understand it. Sad for Lillard's legacy but he might be cooked after this rehab, they had to move on now and try to keep Giannis

Do the Bucks still have to make another move to make this deal legal? It seems like they still weren't far enough below the cap to complete the rest of those deals legally to me.

This is the truth. Under the new CBA, the owners get to shift the blame on the players union for actions they would've taken anyway. And fans and the media are gobbling up the new CBA narrative.
As for Boston, there was no way the Celtics sign Horford and Kornet and add another $5-10 million just to pay $500 million in tax in 25-26 with zero chance of contending only for Jrue and Horford to be old and ineffective when Tatum returned.

I'm not a fan of the waive and stretch, but I like it better for the Bucks in this case over mortgaging draft picks to move his contract. One of the few ways that they could really improve the team this offseason.

Props to bucks ownership for ponying it up.

They at least tried to put pieces around Giannis .

Exactly... that's what I said in the later paragraph that the CBA doesn't prevent the stars teaming up which is what fans hate. Tatum/Brown is a good duo but not a "this is ruining the league for me competitively" type of duo. But on another team, it could be Luka and Jokic making those max salaries. The new CBA doesn't prevent two mega stars from teaming up on a "superteam" with mid level and minimum pieces around them. Those have always been the teams fan gripe about. What it does prevent is building a deeper, balanced roster that has good players throughout, at least for more than a 1-2 year blip.

If it works it's worth it. If it doesn't well they're **** anyway. Might as well roll the dice.

Desperation, desperation, desperation explains the Bucks side.

Don't totally get this reaction to the Hali injury from Pacers.

But this is the shocker of the cycle for sure

I'm not sure the CBA is why the Pacers let Turner walk. I don't get the impression they ever valued him that highly in the first place. It felt like Turner was on the trade block for half a decade and the only reason he stuck around this long in Indy is because they could never find any takers for him. He also didn't help his case by sucking so much in the Finals.

I love this deal if it's the first move. Not as much if it's THE move.

Who's the best guard/wing Milwaukee could get for Kuzma, Pat C, 2031 1st unprotected, and whatever other swaps/"worst of" picks they have left?

LaVine is out of reach cap-wise but Kuzma and some protected swaps/"worst of" picks for DeRozan seems like a reasonable outcome.

Not any worth a 2031 1st though
