Unfortunately it’s true. He should just retire now and not have to worry about attempting a failed comeback. He gets his $110m free and clear.
He's not done, with technology he probably has 2-3 decent seasons left where he could average anywhere from 20-14ppg. He's too gifted as a scorer.

His game will have to adapt a lot and he'll probably fade towards a rotational bench guy by his 3rd year. He might actually have to come off the bench even when he comes back in his first year.

His problem will be defense, which was never his strong suit. Cutting t, pivot, plant and explode is hard to do after any lower body tendon tears.

Yeah no kidding. It has me remembering back on the hit we took to get rid of JSmoove. I think we paid for him until 2019-2020 or something crazy.

Opens money so they can sign Myles Turner.
It keeps Giannis happy .

I get why they did it but geez. Thats a lot of money for a player thats not on your roster.

Their roster looks worse then ours and we just lost 3 out of 7 starter/rotation guys and might lose 4

lol Celtics fans about to come crashing back to Earth now that their roster isn’t giga overloaded with talent

I was just applauding the Turner acquisition wondering where they were getting the cap space

This is insane though

They need another piece because I dont think Turner is enough to keep Giannis in Milwaukee, especially after losing Lillard for nothing

It’s so dirty that Dame still gets paid & doesn’t even need to play BB. Do you listen to yourselves? He made out big time lol

Because it’s stretched, does that mean since Lillard got it as a lump sum, does that mean he can sign wherever and the Bucks money is paid, so the new team’s contract doesn’t deduct from what the bucks owe?

Eg, Lillard got his full salary paid and is also able to sign somewhere for more than the min and keep all of both contracts?

Edit: this sounds so confusing, but I hope someone understands what I’m asking lol

Almost as hilarious as constantly harping this narrative for 6 years straight

It's similar to the LBJ has lost his athleticism claims in 2013. You say this stuff often enough and eventually it will be true.

Anyway, props to Milwaukee for trying to stay relevant.

As for Dame, I guess that's just the reality of an achilles tear. Lessons learned, don't play with calf muscle strains. It's never worth it. I still think Dame can come back in 2026-27 and, if he's willing to swallow his pride, be an excellent back up PG on a contender.
So many people who attain the heights of power in this culture—celebrities, for instance—have to make a show of false humility and modesty, as if they got as far as they did by accident and not by ego or ambition.

Yeah I’m sad about this. I was hoping Myles would get to be a one-team guy because he’d lasted so long on his original team.

My gut feeling is that Hali’s injury may have changed the Pacer calculus.

I like the idea of the move for the Bucks trying to keep building around Giannis, but don’t have a sense of what the rest of the team looks like yet.

But yeah, sorry, not taking anyone serious who is trying to hype up Kevin Porter Jr.

This team is frankly, ****.

+1... If you're trying to hype up Kevin Porter Jr. the ship has already sank

I noticed you also had no counter argument to the #'s I provided that determine if you win or lose games. And clearly a lot of people commenting authoritatively on the Bucks aren't watching their games. Just repeating what the media who wanted Giannis gone for ratings were saying.

Oh look at that - Giannis is reportedly not happy with thees moves

SHOCKING
What an absolute failure and disaster this franchise is, ran by one of the most incompetent front offices in the league.

I know it's a business, he probably knows it too...but they traded his best man in real life and best teammate Middleton for Kuzma.
Now they're cutting Lillard.

Just ask for a trade now. I want a good laugh.

The Middleton trade was to get under the 2nd apron which is a smart team building decision. Lillard is also beyond useless if he’s coming back from an ACL injury

guys, I have a theory, and it's a very interesting one.

The NBA has been rumored to have expansion for a few years now, and any season the NBA could potentially announce an expansion. I think it would be after this season because this could be LeBron's last season and he could be one of the members of an investment group looking to set-up a franchise.

When expansion happens, the NBA typically allows for a player draft and does other special provisions and one special provision that I think could come back is the NBA amnesty clause which will allow for a team to remove a dead contract against their cap.

So the Bucks are doing this because they expect that the money on the books will not deter Giannis from staying and the only way they could expect that is because they think that expansion will push an NBA expansion draft and the NBA will also give teams an amnesty clause so they can sign FAs to rebuild their roster after the draft.

I almost wonder if Milwaukee is ready to start from scratch. Giannis is obviously a legend but Milwaukee just has no flexibility to get better. If they can get a super haul for him, it might be better for both Milwaukee and Giannis to move on. They've officially hit the treadmill without any way to get better or worse. Giannis alone makes them a playoff team but having nothing else makes them a 1st or 2nd round exit every year.

You're the gullible people corporate media who've been making these claims for 6 years thru multiple extensions depend on. "Giannis is closely monitoring who the Bucks take w/ the 47th pick". "Told you Giannis is gone, Cletus."

Bloody hell thats 22M per year, that will not be available for them for the next 5years. That makes the Myles Turner deal look like he has signed for 50M per year.

Wow!

My feeling as well.

Has an NBA team just eaten $100 mill before so they can sign more guys? (Myles Turner!)

It’s actually pretty impressive for a small market.

It's one of the few cases where the short term gains are worth it for the long term salary pain. Would have been a tough offseason for them if they couldn't pull off a move like this.

anytime you can sacrifice the next half decade to sign the 5th best player on the Pacers you gotta do it
