Has Lakers offseason been a disaster?

Post#1 » by UglyBugBall » Tue Jul 1, 2025 3:55 pm

Do we think this Lakers offseason has been a disaster so far?

They let DFS walk and brought in a young unproven wing who might have potential but definitely isn't a ready replacement. Even if they somehow land DeAndre Ayton, are they really that much better than last season? Losing DFS hurts more than it seems on paper.

And the messaging from the front office isn't helping, it feels like they're already looking ahead to 2027. That’s a tough pill to swallow when you’ve got a superstar still in his prime with a history of weight problems and injury. Are we really planning 2 to 5 years out when the window might not even be open that long, on the off chance one of two available free agents then actually sign?

This team wasn't an Ayton away from contending. They were about 3 pieces away with DFS still on the team, which he's not.

Curious what everyone else thinks. Is it too early to call it a disaster or are we already there?

Absolutely, no question.

It was reported that Pelinka FIRST free agent call was to superstar Jake Laravia

Lakers are obv playing a cap space game hoping to snag Giannis or Jokic in 2027. Foolish, imo, as guys arent gonna turn down the ludicrous 70mill/year type extensions that will be thrown around

lost DFS for nothing, missing out on the center market. JV just left Sac for filler salary. There is a ton that they are failing rn.

Team is going younger and moving away from Bron into a new star next to Luka.

What does it mean?

All contracts are no longer than 2 years and all players are younger and more athletic.

Reason: They want to stay competitive in next 2 years but they are gonna go after Giannis.

Not Yo Ham Lakers!

They're really banking on Luka having a MVP type season. But I don't see how they compete with the top teams if they don't add some defensive pieces.

But RGM doesn't have to be like this. Be part of the solution or whatever the saying is.
