Shams: Val to Denver

Post#1 » by MoneyTalks41890 » Tue Jul 1, 2025 4:00 pm

Read on Twitter

The Sacramento Kings are trading Jonas Valanciunas to the Denver Nuggets for Dario Saric, sources tell ESPN.

Good backup center for Denver.

They just need a good backup PG now.

Denver is dominating this off-season as well. Good lord.

Sacramento is continuing its 20-year plan of being incompetent.

Love this actually. I wanted Val gone. I'd rather give the minutes to Maxime and Isaac Jones. Also love helping Denver continue to get better, they are a team I'd like to see win again.

Nice pickup for Denver. They've had an impressive offseason so far. If they stick the landing with the MLE they could be right back in the upper echelon of the West.

I'm all for a tank but if we do let's move Domas too and do it right.

I was never a huge Val guy anyway so happy to see Raynaud get those minutes.

Val has his flaws but saric should be out of the league already .

I remember being SO hyped when we got him on a vet min deal a couple years ago, and it was pretty clear from the jump that he was washed. No idea why Denver gave him that deal.

Maybe they're expanding it into the MPJ trade?

Great deal for Denver. They needed someone who can play at all behind Jokic.

I like it for Denver. Not going to replace Joker minutes but could help them tread water the brief time he sits.

Yeah, not sure if it fits within the matching rules, but the Nuggets can absorb Jonas into the TPE created by the MPJ trade.

Would’ve preferred Horford but better than nothing

If it does fit into the matching rules, does that mean Denver still effectively has a $19M TPE? If so, I wonder if they could trade that Golden State in a S&T for Kuminga. Golden State does it so they have a large TPE to use to grab someone else.

no they would trigger hardcap by receiving a S&T and dont have enough room under it to absorb kuminga

Idk about the mechanics of the deal, but Kuminga's big gripe with the Warriors was that he was buried on offense and never got a chance to be the focal point. I doubt he'd be much happier in Denver.

What about the Kings?

Word is Monk for Schroder, we take Schroder into MLE or TPE from Huerter. Create a new TPE for Monk, Kuminga into that TPE.

And now we saved 5 mil from JV + 5 mil difference of Schroder/Monk, we should be able to do that without hitting the tax.

Win/win right?

Sac opening up more tax space is a win to me. They need to fix their roster and Val wasn’t a good fit. Or just blow it up and at least have saved some money here..

Denver making it so Joker only needs to play 36 instead of 40 minutes per game is a win to me..

now sac is left without a back up C though. dont see this as a win for them when they traded 2nd(s) for Val recent TDL

Kuminga focal point on offense is madness .
