Re: Official 2025-2026 Magic Trade ideas thread
I think there’s one more trade before re-upping Moe. Minimally, we find a place to unload salary to up our offer to Moe (still less than $11m). Hopefully, something for a starting C. Rumors yesterday (unsubstantiated) of WCJ for Claxton. Not sure we have anything to make BRK consider that, but…I’m often surprised what teams get with srps after the FA frenzy…
WCJ ($10.9 ), Isaac (15m), Jett ($5.5 ), all of the srps we can find or even 2032 frp if Weltman is slingin’ like there’s no tomorrow
For… Claxton ($25.4)
For BRK, it would really be about the pick(s)…or, possibly AB

Claxton hasn’t proven he’s better than even Wendell. Let alone worth that contract.
I don’t see us having Claxton interest.

Still holding out hope?
I see us move Jett for no return at most. Goga could be moved during the season.

Thats a reach. At least I hope so. No reason a team wouldn't take a flyer on him for a few 2nds. Which sucks.

Yes...you don't do all this just to pump the brakes when you're "in the neighborhood" of the best teams. The worst thing is spending all of the money (and more) to come up short and have to disband it in a couple of years for financial reasons because you didn't finish the job.
May not be this summer, but every month wasted is a shorter window...they may think we're there - I'm just not confident in WCJ. At his best and most reliable, he's great.

They're very different players. At his best, I prefer Wendell - grabbing boards, switching defender, hitting 3's...but he rarely puts it all together for any reliable stretch. Claxton is a simple, pure defender and inside lob/drop off finisher...I think we've added enough perimeter offense now to make that a viable direction - our savage POA defenders could take more risks, knowing there is an elite rim protector backing them up. Additionally, we've added enough gravity with 3pt shooting that a "garbageman" like Claxton could just dunk everything in sight off of dropoffs, lobs, and put-backs when defenders run to double the other 4 starters.
Suggs' shooting could be the big determining factor in our offense. It will definitely be better but if Suggs can shoot like he did last season, near 40% on high volume, with our new additions, and some better player and ball movement, ORL could have a really good offense, not just better than the worst.

a few srps is an asset...and shouldn't be more than that, imo. Jett's worth a flyer for a team in a rebuild.

It should be obvious at this point that WCJ nor Goga will not be traded this offseason. I could see something at the trade deadline depending on what happens during the season but not right now.

Re: Official 2025-2026 Magic Trade ideas thread
I’m so serious that I would entertain bringing back Dwight at this point. I was against it in the past because we were young and not ready to compete but the trajectory has now changed and we need cheap depth w/ Mo out.
Dwight also does a lot of what Claxton does, he’s still in great shape and is eager to play. Obviously not as young, but also not as expensive.
I saw this trade on the T&T board and kinda love it.
Max Struss for Goga Bitazde/Jett Howard
We take on a couple of more dollars so doesn’t really help the Mo situation, but if we can get Mo on a vet. min. or Gary Trent prove it deal we might seriously have one of the best benches in the league.
Suggs - Jones - Richardson (1/2)
Bane - Black - Richardson (2/2)
Wagner - Struss - TDS
Banchero - Isaac - Panda
Carter - Howard - *Wagner
Adding a vet wing like Struss imo pushes us in legitimate contention conversations.

I get the sense they want to see it on the floor and decide from there.
Center will be an area of focus but we are limited by what we are paying centers now. I was pretty surprised we didn’t draft a center.

Why is it SO obvious that our suddenly "all-in" summer ends a move short? It's not like we can't make a trade - we may not, but trade season is just warming up. I'd be interested to see how outsiders would rank EC teams now. I guess Vegas odds are the best indicators...they are based on REAL money, not content creation, and-1's, hot takes, homerism, etc. LAL will not be going into the season without a Center after Lebron's cryptic statement - or regardless of LBJ - MIL is falling apart...there's still a lot of dominoes that could trigger more responses.
I could see Reaves & filler (Vando or Kleber or Vincent) to BRK for Claxton...I hope it doesn't but I don't see LAL just settling for Ayton when so much is at stake.

Get ready for the Giannis sweepstakes. Bucks just released Lillard and signed Turner.

Other moves can be made but I just don’t think WCJ or Goga are going anywhere during the summer. The cap experts need to correct me if I am wrong but the magic are locked into first apron and already over the luxury tax. Therefore, they need to trade WCJ for a guy who makes less than his current contract. And while not a great player, WCJ is ok and not as bad as people make him out to be. And with all indications saying the Magic want to resign Moe, trading Goga would leave the Magic without a backup center unless they trade for another center. I truly do not see the Magic trading either Goga or WCJ during the offseason.

Cap is not so much of an issue with a big trade...Isaac, Jett, TdS, even AB for the right move (it'd have to be BIG) could be added to either WCJ or Goga (or both if you pick up an appropriately paid 3rd stringer like Plumless, who just signed for appx $3m. You can make a trade AND take back less, potentially. It's unlikely, but certainly not impossible.

I just don’t think that is likely. I really do think the Magic do one more minor trade, likely Jett, and take the wait and see approach to see what this current has and then makes a another trade at the deadline after Moe returns.
