Other than a minor deal to get rid of Jett, I could see the Magic taking the wait and see approach until the trade deadline.

I get what you're saying but have you have ever been to Clermont?

Keith thinks Mo is back, but did say it’s “complicated”.
Just a random thought: JI’s renegotiation was so embarrassingly unnecessary. Orlando could have simply waited and signed him for a fraction of the cost even with a healthy season under his belt.
I’m not going to bash Welt because he’s doing almost everything we asked him to do, but most of the issues we’re going through right now are due to self inflicted wounds.

I don't know how the math is going to work moving forward but it seems like having WCJ and Issac on the books combining for around 35 per season is going to be tough.

How about JI for S&T Trey Lyles? Clears space. JI into Kings TPE, then Lyles into newly created TPE. Save $8M? If we work it right, we could maybe create enough space to sign Malik Beasley on a 1yr deal, instead of Caleb. Turn JI & remaining space into Lyles/Mo/Malik

I'm just messing around, i have headache whole day and i probably posted 80 posts in last 8 hours

That said, i have no clue what Isaac's value is. Depending on what other doctors think of his health & how much other teams weight on his terrible last season.

Re: Official 2025 Offseason Thread
At least he is an exp contract now and we will need some of those next summer when Paolo gets his big money started and WCJ gets to his salary boost. Best case scenario is Jett gets some trade value and we move him for another exp and a pick. Those high picks cost a lot to retain on year 4.Optimus_Steel wrote:I’m going to pull a BadMoFoPimp and say that Jett is going to prove yall wrong! I think he is capable of being a rotation player.

Re: Official 2025 Offseason Thread
Moe is still injured and probably out till 2026, so lucky for us he is not a hot commodity.
We will probably have to trade JI next season anyway due to salary issues, however today his trade value is as low as it gets, it would be smart to use him next season and hope he lands us some picks next summer.

I think we had to hit a salary floor and at least it has a lot of provisions to it. Front-loaded and MLE the rest of it while having games played targets.
WCJ was the one that just added salary for some reason lol.

Re: Official 2025 Offseason Thread
Regarding the Hawks, that team found something before Jalen Johnson went down last year. They were really good when they played through Johnson, Daniels, Risacher. Young's stats may not show it (career high in assists for him), but that was his most well-rounded season as an NBA player. He committed to playing off ball a lot more and they benefited from it. When they took him off the floor, their defense was very good, and very similar to what we do to teams when we switch 1-5.
Adding NAW (pretty much got the Jonathan Isaac contract) allows them to lean into that even more. I'm actually really interested to see what they look like with NAW at PG instead of Young. The Hawks created the best team to accommodate Young and his defensive shortcomings. NAW, Risacher, Daniels, Johnson, Okongwu is going to be a menace for most teams to play against night to night. Porzingis when he plays is still one of the best rim protectors in the league and hits 40% of his 3s. Daniels is all-NBA defense. The Hawks are going to have one of the best pick n' roll games between Young and KP and Johnson. And they add another shooter (44% from 3 last year) in Kennard at $9 million. That team fits together really well and they have a nice balance of shooting, ball-handling, and defense. And they have depth now.
That team is really well established for the future too. They somehow swindled the Pelicans out of their 2026 first round pick (unprotected!). Joe Dumars is actively sabotaging the Pelicans and the Hawks could be staring at a top 5 pick in a really good draft next year. Porzingis' $30 million contract comes off the books next season. They don't really have any dead-weight money. If they wanted to pivot and parlay some of these players into something else (if they want to make a Giannis run, for example), they're well set up to do so.
We played them in the play-in. We're going to be competing with them in the standings all regular season. That team was our peer and competition both last season and this season.

Re: Official 2025 Offseason Thread
On the Magic side, I like our team. Bane and Jones are upgrades. Our defense should be good again. The defense will always make us competitive.
I also question whether these moves are enough to improve our team shooting from worst in the league to average. We're going to need Franz to find his shot again. We're going to need Carter Jr (~$20 million/year) and Isaac (~$15million/year) to try to play up to their contracts. That's a lot of money locked up in a very mediocre center and a guy who can't play more than 12 minutes per game and a combined 24ish% from 3. We need Black, Da Silva, Howard to come along. A lot of questions in my eyes still on that end.
In an ideal world, we could upgrade 1-2 more of those role player minutes. But that salary cap math is tough unless we find some takers via trade for these players. And I'm not sure the market is there.

It was always going to depend on Franz/Paolo/Suggs replicating or finding their shot. You can only add so much shooting to mask for deficiencies of your stars who will have a lot of usage. The role players can't be like worst in the league sort of bad, but our stars need to step up on that end.

Agreed. If Franz and Paolo remain poor shooters (I’m honestly not worried about Suggs who had a down year due to the unusual role he was forced into IMO), we’re going nowhere and we will be tearing this down to the studs in ~3 years (see Milwaukee and Boston minus the championship).

I would not mind getting Lillard for the vet minimum and just let him rest for this year.

What team is he on? I don’t mind him, I just hated how he never would shoot on a team that needed shooters.
