Giannis not happy with the Bucks dirty move. What a time to fire Masai!

I don't see Turner as an upgrade to Lopez. Turner's one of those guys who disappears for 10 mins, then makes an incredible play that makes you wonder why he's never been an All-Star.

No, why would we? We got the best available player for nothing...

I don't think it's dirty....Lillard still gets paid, and gets to sign a new contract with a team of his choice once he's back. I bet Lillard didn't even want to be in Milwaukee anymore, especially since they aren't even a real contender.

Oh 100%. Anyone who watched the ECF and Finals would know Turner is overrated. And you see what happens to big men who don’t do big men things and only shoot 3s. The moment their shot stops falling they become almost unplayable. He made a good block here and there so people think he played good defence when he didn’t lol. It’s why they had to play Toppin so much lol

I also laught at people who say the Spurs are "set for the next decade". Uhh no, they are not. The new CBA is set up to prevent that.
With a core of Wemby and Harper, the Spurs though may be the best able to navigate the restrictive CBA because they control a nice chunk of draft capital over the next 5-6 years. They took the approach to spread out their picks which they acquired in trades - so they can replenish their roster with cheaper rookie scale contracts as their veterans eventually become too expensive to keep. They don’t get too attached to their guys and very easily just send them packing for more picks when the time comes.
Look at the Spurs draft record post dynasty. Outside their top 3 picks, it's nothing to write home about.
This idea of banking on cheap young players for championships is very novel. Even in OKC, they needed to bring in Hartenstein and Crusoe to win their chip, and I doubt any of their young guys (or future picks) can replicate them. Until we see otherwise, I'm going to operate under the assumption that you need vets to win at the highest level in this league.

I think what's getting buried here is reporting is Pacers low balled myles Turner. Apparently their offer was no where close to bucks offer.
Another team talking about they'll go into tax to keep their core, who went to finals, but just lip service. If anything we should try to go after Pacers gm or president, as they'll be use to cheap owners like Rogers, who wants cost cutting.

Replaced Dame and Lopez with Turner
Lopez is out of his prime and Dame is 36 coming off an Achilles.

He's a stretch C to keep the lane from clogging up.

Our guys got out ahead of all of that. I'd do the exact same trades over n over again
But Pascal is way better than Turner? That's not how you analyze a trade. The Pacers would have kept Turner if Hali didn't snap his achilles. There's no point in paying tax for a team without its best player.
do you feel that the pacers can find a replacement for turner after next season on a much cheaper deal? hali's only out for a season. i don't think it was a definite that he was back regardless. if hali wasn't hurt then they'd still be paying tax in 26/27 when they could be a contender again.

Every now and then a move comes along that makes you go….What?!?!?!
This, combined with waiving and stretching Dame, is one of them.

Makes no sense from the Pacers end. $27m per year is perfectly reasonable for Turner. It’s almost the exact same contract (relative to the cap) he had when he was making $17m. Just re-sign Turner and dump Toppin and you’ll be under the tax. Even worst case scenario you can trade Turner for value in a year. I get not wanting to pay the tax but this is a dumb way to go about it.

They could have re-signed Turner and just dumped Toppin to avoid the tax. Turner at $27m is positive value. Letting him go (of anyone) is dumb. Siakam works best with a stretch C. Most teams work best with a stretch C. Finding another that can defend is not going to be easy.

Love to see it as an East rival. Both teams get worse in the long run. All those newfound Indy fans can stop talking for a while now. Their owner is cheap as hell.
