Wonder if Pacers are gonna keep Siakam now. If they're planning to sit out next year, might as well sell high while Hali is recovering.

Jesus Christ.
So in 10-20 years players are gonna be making like $180M per year.
Yeah it’s ridiculous, these players making way too much.

One of the biggest reasons I hate professional sports more and more...makes no sense to be paying ANYONE that plays a game 71M per year.

Professions aren't paid by how hard people work or how much good they do, they're paid by how much money they make the people above them.
That goes far beyond sports.

They forgot the part where we then flip Simons to the Suns for Jalen Green.
As for Coby getting a $20-$25 mill contract next summer, stop deluding yourselves. Next summers cap situation is not CLOSE to this summer's. There are a ton of free agents this summer and NO money. All the players are fighting over the same scraps. You can't compare any contracts signed this summer to next summers contract. Entirely different environment. Utah is tanking, why they traded Sexton and he's worth more than his current contract. He's also expiring. Van Fleet is 31, and took a pay cut to stay on a young contender in a summer where no other team other than the Nets could bid more anyway. These "defensive" players getting big contracts are also good 3pt shooters.
You see Shai getting $71 mill a year and think offense is not the priority? He's a much better offensive player than defense. Every player scoring over 20 pts gets paid unless they have serious issues. Coby doesn't.

This Times 10000000. No one ever says Jerry Reinsdorf is making too much money. And he literally just owns the team and sits back and watches the money come in. The players are the ones generating it.

I know that but doesn't make it any less ridiculous...these guys are making so much moneyhe is goign to make more than what most companies employees all combined do not see in a lifetime. On top of that, you have a guy like Shai making 71m, while other guys on multple rosters who probably isn't much worse by comparison of stats will make 1/10 of that, makes 0 sense, theese albatross contracts kill the league.

They won't kill the league and they're comparatively nothing compared to MLB contracts.
I totally understand the sticker shock, though.

If you think the money players and teams make is ridiculous that's more a commentary on our society than it is professional sports. We the fans are the ones feeding the beast.

Nowadays you have social media personalities making millions so people can watch them eat or tell you why all women are evil and you should never get married. OF workers making millions to strip. TikTokers making millions for posting 15 second clips of themselves regularly. There's enormous value in being one of the best people on the planet in any sport when you're playing in the best league in the world. Players get paid a percentage of the money the league makes. If the league makes that much money, why should the workers who actually create the product not get some of the gains too? Lakers were just sold for $10 billion. It's a new world.

Honestly probably the best thing AK could be doing for the long term outlook of this team. I think Giddey is not only a future multiple time all-star but a guy who can raise the offensive game of others. We saw it post all star game last year where Huerter, Collins, Jones, Coby, and Matas all looked great with Giddey in the driver seat.
Getting him for $20 mil/year long term would go along way in building an non-play-in team around him.

Also makes no sense for him to want to sit on Dame for a year and hope he gets back to what he used to be after that year. Makes so much more sense for him to be in with MIL demonstrating they'll invest by the Waive/stretch and then signing Turner. But sets up other necessary moves. Can't be the case that they can now drop a significant offer on Giddey, but he might be a fit there with some shooters and Giannis/Turner. Or Coby.
The move also means that Indiana got worse.

I agree why don't the workers that are working hard for the product not get some gains, the security guards at each game still make minimum wage, the concessions workers make minimum wages, etc. I'm not saying players shouldn't make money...they should but if we're stating that all the people that are working hard to make the product a billion dollar industry everyone should get a taste then and that just isn't the case. We pay players and we pay owners millions if not billions, yet all those other people that make the games happen get zilch.
I've got a buddy who works security at Milwauke Bucks games, he makes barely 40k per year, but when they went for raises this past year the owner told them no because they got tax bills and salaries to pay. His words, not mine, so there is probably some fallacy to that but still shows that they're not spreading the wealth to those that deserve it.

Milwaukee has messed up one of the best situations in the league. They have Giannis. That trade for Lillard cost them Jrue Holiday, an unprotected first, two swaps, and now they have Lillard as $22 mill dead money for the next 5 years. Replaced Middleton with Kuzma. The Myles Turner upgrade is nice, but $22 mill dead money for 5 years is legit crazy in Milwaukee. Went from a core of Jrue, Middleton, Giannis, Lopez to Giannis, Kuzma, Turner, three bigs. With dead money.

I suspect we'll start seeing the Dame trade mentioned as one of the worst trades ever. It set the team back and now will haunt them both with future picks and salary. 22m in dead unmovable salary for the next 5 years makes me shudder.
I don't do the dishes, I throw them in the crib
